Good afternoon fellow GDEC's.

I brought the original GDEC and then got posted overseas. I use a stepdown transformer from 220 volts. I can switch it to 100v or 110v's. When I turn on the amp it blinks "Loading Host" and "Loading DSPOS" It will just sit there and blink on and off. Every once in a while it will fully amp up and I can play it for 10-15mins. then it shuts off and tries to amp up again....blinking again. The amp is 120 volts. Would this 10-volt difference cause this problem or is my motherboard shot? Lend me your ears.

Hey Beaz1,

It sounds like the line voltage is too low. Even though the step down transformer output is labeled 110VAC it could be actually lower, this all depends on the actual mains voltage which could be lower than 220V. You are right on the edge of dropping out. A 120V step down transformer would probably work.

The amp is likely fine, just needs the proper line voltage.

Thanks Loren. That would explain why it sometimes works. The power here often fluctuates all around the board so to speak. Some of the newer transformers here have a digital read out for for the actual input power and output power voltage. I'll pick up a voltage meter tomorrow as a first cheap alternative and go from there. Thanks again and I'll drop you a post when complete.

I experience the "loading host" loop problem to the worst possible extend; my G-DEC30 (one-and-half year old) has the problem since a few weeks now and on bad nights it will enter this "loading host" loop every other minute making playing virtually impossible.

After some "Google-ing" I came across a number of users having the same problem. Some of them reported there problems on a GDEC user forum.

I already contacted my retailer and I will contact Fender also (but they probably read all this forum stuff as well).

Cheers,
Ron.

Let me know what you find out. I'll only be in the states for another few weeks and would like to take care of the problem if possible.

Hey, my g-dec30 is having the same problems. Just shows the loading screen. Sometimes it will let me play on the default channel, but if I try to change it then it goes back to the loading screen. Any suggestions? I've heard there may be a bad diode or resister (or low voltage)? I bought it used from a friend a couple months ago and I'm ready to throw this thing away and cut my losses unless I can find a cheap fix.
