I am using a user preset to get a clean sound from the g-deck. I have it set to Tweed 1 with spring reverb and low gain. Unfortunately I can't get very much volume out of it even with AMP volume set to ten as well as the master volume (10). Any suggestions.

Thanks,

Bill

Bill, There are couple ways you may be able to boost the overall volume in this scenario without changing the gain. In the amp menu try raising the compression level. You may also want to turn the noisegate on if you use one of the higher compression settings. Another idea is to experiment with increasing the treble, mid, and bass tonestack settings while trying keeping the EQ sounding close to the same. The Tweed1 sound is fairly clean so you may find that turning the compression on low and boosting the gain slightly will give you an extra boost without introducing too much noise. Hope that helps.

Gents,

I have the same problem -- I have a Strat with vintage type pickups, so I don't have a lot of signal as compared to some pickups.

On many of the clean presets there isn't nearly enough guitar volume (compared to the bass and drums), and when setting the guitar vol to 10 and listening on the head phones, you can even get a slight overdrive of the input of the DEC and hear distortion from the op-amp input circuit. It would be way worse with hi-output pickups.

I read your above post Brian -- anything else to add, ideas or otherwise?

I am an inveterate amp modder, and I have access to SMT rework equipment, but I'd rather not have to ruin my warrenty so soon. Besides, I don't have a schematic....

If you are having trouble with the guitar level while playing along with the backing tracks my other suggestion would be to scale back the drum, bass, and accompaniment levels in the drum mode. On the G-DEC30 this can also easily be accomplished with the backing level pot on the front panel.

As far as using guitars with weaker pickups, my only other suggestion might be to try and put a volume boost pedal in front of the amp.
