Is the original G-Dec 30 compatible with the Fender Fuse Software?

Is there a conversion program to convert FUSE to Sysex?
Seems like it would be easy to do, and my GDEC 30 would be a whole lot less obsolete after only 1.5 years of ownership.
Also, can the GDEC 30 be updated to use anything other than MIDI files (wave, etc.)? Is this a software thing, or a hardware thing?
Anyone at Fender paying attention?

In case you weren't aware, there are early preset editors for the older amps from this page.

G-DEC® Preset Editor for PC (v1.01) and G-DEC® Preset Editor for Mac (v1.0) are for the G-DEC 15 amps.

G-DEC® 30 Preset Editor for PC (v1.02), G-DEC® 30 Preset Editor for PPC Mac (v1.02) and G-DEC® 30 Preset Editor for Intel Mac (v1.02) as their names imply are for G-DEC 30 amps.

They aren't pretty like FUSE but they do the job...

Thanks for your reply, P90sdude.

You can use the older version to make your own presets, but you can't look up all the online presets with the older version, can you?

You know, Dan-O , I think your right that it would be not particularly hard to write some sort of interface that can read a downloaded preset, read the XML file and translate the to what ever corresponded to the MIDI system exclusive messages set to and from the amp... but it would be tedious.

But first, you would need to understand all the keys in the preset XML.

Then if you don't already know it already, you would need to understand the MIDI system exclusive protocol.

Then, since Fender hasn't published the keys to it's messages, you would have to take a program such as MIDI-Ox to catch the messages from either the MIDI output of the old preset editor or the MIDI input from the amp... catch a message, change one parameter, send another, compare them, write a log., then, again MIDI, change one parameter, write a log... continue to do this for each parameter on AMP, the for each parameter on FX etc..

Once your done doing that, you would have to see what the two protocols have in common.

Then, you would have to write a program in some programing language that has MIDI support (a few scripting languages do) to read the XML and write a .SYS file. Then you could read the .SYS file in the old preset editor and send it to the amp.

The results, would probably not sound the same, but similar me thinks...

Hard? nah... The first obstetrical would be time, even if you already had programming skills. Then, if you had no previous experience with at least some of this, it would take time.

But, it is a big earth. Maybe some one has that kind of time, talent and owns an older G-DEC.

I would have thought going from FUSE to Sysex (and vice versa) would be a lot simpler.
Currently, FUSE won't open Sysex files, and GDEC Editor won't open FUSE files.
But they are basically the same format (as far as my non-programmers eyes can see). I thought it would be a fairly simple matter of making the 2 formats compatible.

Right now, I d/l prests from FUSE, then type them in maually to the GDEC Preset Editor.
It's just numbers from 1 to 10, for gain, volume, etc. But it gets a little tedious doing it by hand.
