I have tried SDHC cards from Microcenter (worked fine in everything else) 2GB (SD Class 6) Fat32 , 16GB (SHDC Class 6) Fat32, and 32GB (SHDC Class 6) Fat32.
I have also tried different SD and SDHC Card readers on Mac & PC.
They all worked fine on the PC, then after putting in GDec 3 and reading them on PC the computer hangs until I remove the cards.

The Memory cards worked fine on the Mac reading and writing.
In order to use them again on the PC (hangs on trying to read), I have to format with Disk Utility (Mac) using MS DOS Master Boot Record partitioning (not GUID). Then the work fine on the PC, but soon as I put the cards back in GDec, it causes the same hanging.
Another problem it made the Microcenter 32GB SDHC not readable on Mac or PC (worked on Mac/PC prior to insertion on GDec).

Other problems GDec hangs on some wav files on 2GB SD card (have to turn of and on).
GDec also won't play some wav files, it will have no sound on 2GB SD card (They play fine on Mac/PC)

If this can't be fixed I would not buy this product!

Config:
GDec 3 Thirty (Firmware Version 1.02)
PC - Windows XP SP3 - CPU:Intel q9550/MB:Gigabyte P35/Ram:OCZ PC8500
Apple - Mac OS 10.63 - Macbook Pro Intel 266mhz Duo Core 2009

I found this in the Manual. (Duh!)
Supported: WAV files (stereo/mono 16 bit, 44.1k) or MIDI files (type 0 or type 1 ).
All of the WAV files that didn't play were above 44.1k sample rate and I just down converted the files. (They play fine now)
Also another note, if the WAV file is 0K in size and u try to play it on GDEC 3, it will lock up and you have to turn off and on unit, only solution is to delete problem file on Mac.

I still haven't found the solution to SD /SDHC on Windows XP SP3 hanging after being used in GDEC.
I know Microcenter branded SD cards are (relabled) Kingston SD Cards.

Hey Techzen,

I'm sorry you're experiencing problems with the G-DEC 3 and different SD cards. We are currently looking into this issue. It would help us a lot if you could explain your setup and some of the things you've tried in greater detail. Please call me here at 480-596-7195 and ask to speak with me directly or you can email your contact info to TSL@fender.com. We are here to help get this and any other issue resolved for you.

I solved the SD / SDHC problem
User error! I had 2 bad memory card readers. (What are the odds?)

The 2GB SD card, 16GB SDHC, and 32GB SDHC card read and write when in GDec 3 USB drive mode connected to PC.

Windows copies to GDec SD are butt slow in USB Drive mode on (47mins plus for 656MB) vs a card reader (Less than 2 mins for 656MB).

Is the GDec USB 1.1 or USB 1.0 or 2.0?

Recommend USB 2.0 SD Card reader!!!

PS
Loren Howard @ Fender is awesome very responsive and understanding to these issues I raised.
I take back what I said about buying. Recommend with cavats listed above.

I have yet to mess with the Fuse or Ampiltube yet.
Good Luck

I am also having problems reading the fender formated SD card. I am using a SanDisk SDHC 8GB and a Sandisk MobileMate SD+ reader. My HP laptop with Vista says "please instert disk into drive G" Same message on my Dell XP 4550.

My camera SD card works with this reader. Kingston 2 GB.

Maybe someone can tell me how to transfer a phrase wav file from G-Dec 3 (15) to my computer? See my other topic post. Thanks Ron

I too am interested in knowing if the G-DEC is USB 1 or 2.0? Does anyone know?

Hey Guys,

Ron, have you tried reformatting the card using your reader (fat32)? Also, if you give me a few I'll talk to a few engineers and get the specifics of the USB in the G-DEC 3.

Thanks,
Loren

Hey Guys,

The USB in the G-DEC 3 is version 1.1 Full Speed.

One thing to note about stand alone card readers is that many of them use HW chips that handle the system overhead which is why they’re often much faster.
