Is it possible to have a song loop? Perhaps I just overlooked the obvious. I use Jammer Songmaker to load songs to a GDEC 30. However, for something like a 12 bar blues it would be nice to just load the pattern once and have it loop indefinetly.

Thanks!

Hey tmav:

I don't think you're going to have any luck with that. Your best bet is to just find a nice MIDI 12-bar, use Jammer to extend it way out and then load it up. You should be able to easily get 10-12 minutes worth of 12-bar on there if you keep it simple with just drums, bass and keys and keep the file size down. Any longer than that and you'll probably get bored anyway.

I have quite a number of 6-8 minute long blues backers that I add to my G-DEC 30 amps now and then, especially when I have buddies come over to jam - they're always impressed when the whole thing's running through the PA. I think if you want to have a 12-bar loop, you'll just have to modify the built-in loops to get what you are after, though I know there's not a whole lot to work with.

Good luck.

I have the original G-DEC, not a "30", so I can't help you there.

However, I use a Boss RC-2 Loop Station and love it. You don't load loops in from a computer; you play them in with your guitar. You can also overdub on your loop - add a bassline, keyboards, etc. Loads of fun if you're short on jam buddies.

The Digitech JamMan would be a good choice if you want to load loops through your computer, and you can also record loops as you play them on guitar as with the RC-2.

I know this doesn't exactly answer your question, but check out these products if you're interested in looping:

Most of these products have multiple demo videos on YouTube also.

Thanks for the feedback.

Yeah, I just extended the 12 bars in Jammer Songmaker. Works fine, just uses more memory then necessary if you could loop songs.

I recently bought a Boss RC-2 looper. It's cool and can pretty much do the same thing. However, it's nice using Jammer Songmaker for things like Jazz to get a full backing band really quick.

I've never used (or even seen) Jammer Songmaker so this might be redundant, but check out Band In A Box software.

You can download a free demo (everything work but you can't save your songs) at www.pgmusic.com.

I've seen Band in a Box and it looks very similar to Jammer Songmaker. The nice thing about Jammer Songmaker though is you can load your songs directly into the GDEC.

Again, my only problem is not being able to loop the playback of a song on the GDEC. Most of the time I'm just loading cord progressions to practice over. Since you can't just loop them like patterns, you end up using a lot of memory on the GDEC by expanding them for a couple minutes so you don't constently have to press the the play button to restart the song.
