Hello Fender and Users:

My new GDEC 3 amps (2) arrived today and I was quite excited as I unpacked and got ready to get going. I played with the new amp tracks for a while, but really wanted to get going with the DVD and software.

But... I am completely unable to get the DVD to open on any of my three Windows computers, all using XP3. I tried the Fender method, but get nothing to show up on the DVD. I tried both DVDs with the same lack of results.

Then I tried Fender support using the URL in the new owner's manual:

www.fender.com/gdec3/support

All that got me was a 404 Error page and a link to Fender to report busted links. That "busted page" address also came back as non-working, so I'm not all that enthused with finding out that Fender is evidently not ready to support the new GDECs.

I also see that Fender has NO downloads available for the new GDEC 3 amps either. It would seem good to have an online access to what is on the DVD if you can't get the DVD to work.

Any suggestions, Loren??

Thanks,

Dennis

Hi CRGuitarMan,

First off, let me apologize for the broken link. We are working to resolve this issue. Here is the correct link to the Fender G-DEC 3 support section.

http://fender.com/support/gdec3/

You also download Fender FUSE 1.1.0 by clicking this link.

http://support.fender.com/downloads/fuse/FenderFUSE_1.1.0_Setup.exe

To access the files on the DVD:

Right click on the DVD icon in "My Computer".
Select "Explore"

If this method does not work please contact Fender Consumer Relations at 480-596-7195 or email us at consumerrelations@fender.com. We would like to get this situation resolved for you ASAP.

Loren

Hi Loren,

Thanks for the response.

I went through the procedure: "To access the files on the DVD: Right click on the DVD icon in "My Computer". Select "Explore". I tried this many times on several computers, figuring I could move the files to my main music computer via Flash Drive if I could get it working somewhere, but...

This efforts does not bring up anything but an empty screen. To my computers, your DVDs are non-functional - both of the two that came with my two GDECs. I've never had any problem previously accessing any DVD, regardless of what I had to do to get it to come up. There may be a conflict between your Mac and Windows versions on the same DVD, though there should not be.

I will contact Consumer Relations, though I don't know what they can do for me other than send a functioning DVD.

This is quite frustrating.

Thanks,

Dennis

My DVD worked flawlessly. Wierd that you would get 2 amps and both have bad DVDs. Hope they got it resolved for you.. -

I sent an email to Fender about the problem and the next day I got a call from Loren Howard, who moderates this forum. He was apologetic and said Fender would send out two new DVDs to me ASAP. Thank you, Loren!

Speaking with a friend in New York who just go this new 3 Thirty, I was told that most of the software on the DVDs is dedicated to modifying the amp's presets and sound recording. I am more interested in the backup music and preset files on the DVD, but I can wait on those, too, I guess.

I think the DVD problem is something to do with the fact that the DVD is a data DVD, rather than a movie, though there are video tutorials on there that might be of help to me. At any rate, I am plugging away at getting the new amps set up to do what I want them to do, mainly hold a couple hundred backing tracks for live performance.

Thanks again, Loren, for your call. I look forward to getting the new discs.

Same issue with the DVD being not readable in 2 out of three PC DVD readers. The third is a DVD reader/writer and after many restarts I manged to move most of the files over, but it was a chore. Web install for FUSE is the way to go. oh.. couldn't get abelton over, so I guess I'll need a link or a new DVD for that.

The new DVDs arrived Wednesday - sorry not to post before now, but I didn't get a change to try them out until yesterday and then I got so involved that I was messing with software, tutorials and music until way late.

Good news! The first of the new DVDs that I loaded into the computer came up immediately after a double-click. I was instantly able to see all of the content and was able to get all software, tutorials and back-up music over to my main music computer. On a whim, I tried the defective DVDs again and sure enough, they still would not come up at all.

Thank you, Loren, for your quick response to my email, getting the DVDs in the mail to me and contacting me in person on the phone. Sorry I missed your subsequent calls, but I did indeed slip both of the defective DVDs into the self-addressed envelope you included and I dropped those in the mail early yesterday morning. I hope they don't work for you, so you can gain some insight into the trouble I had.

All in all, a very good experience with Fender, Loren and the 3 Thirty crew. I've been a Fender fanatic since the 60s and that will continue, much to my wife's dismay...

Thanks, Loren and Fender,

Dennis
