The midi sound module is still included in the G-Dec 3, correct ? Have the sound samples been updated from the original G-Dec ?

Though I think the live backing tracks are cool they aren't as flexible as midi tracks, lacking the ability to drop or include instrument tracks or alter tempo or key more than a small percentage of beats or a couple of semitones.

I notice your promotional material compares the sound of the live tracks to midi tracks, midi has no sound. Midi files sound are dependent on the quality of the sound samples and the accuracy of the sequencing. Live performance dynamics can even be captured if played on a midi instrument, drums, piano, ... As much of the music we hear on radio, TV and in movies are proof of.

Having a large collection of high quality midi sequences I high hopes that you have updated the sound engine as well. I still anticipate buying one based on all the other features, if the build quality is above that of the original G-Dec.

Thanks.

A lack of response leaves me to assume that there is no improvement in the sound samples ?

Hey mistercaster,

The MIDI sound set in the Fender G-DEC 3 is comparable to the sound set in the previous G-DEC models. However, keep in mind that MIDI is being used less and less these days so we felt it was more important to include excellent live audio Band Tracks. These Band Tracks can be manipulated in real time in much of the same way that MIDI files can while still allowing the G-DEC 3 to maintain full MIDI compatibility.

Thanks for the reply Loren. Can the tracks be manipulated in respect to control over which instruments are playing, such as choice between no rhythm guitar or no lead guitar.

Unfortunately, individual instruments can't be muted or solo'd. You can, however, change the key of a song without affecting the tempo and vice versa. We are currently testing new ways to provide more flexibility in Band Tracks. Stay tuned.
