Hi

Just wondering what, if any, besides the name and the wattage, is the difference between the two amps. Does the 15 have less loop time for example or are they duplicates in functionality?

Thanks
:)

I think the Thirty adds a tweeter and stereo line outs as well.

I would think that if you ever intend to use the amp for live performance with a band the 30 would be the way to go, not just for the extra wattage but for those line outs. You could just hand the sound guy a cable (or two for stereo!) and then use the amp as your stage monitor.

I think the live clips on Fender's website were a mix of both the mic'ed amp and the direct line outs from the board. Pretty cool. It's been a long time since I was actually excited about a new product, especially anything digital.

Thanks for the responses.

I agree with you about getting excited about a new product. I'm chomping at the bit about getting one of these now.

It's nice to see that Fender is still producing great products.

I have one more question. This may sound strange but, to save on a long explanation. Can the amp play sounds from the computer as if it were a PC speaker?

Thanks,
John

You could probably plug into the AUX in.

I'll have to see. I'm sure I can work something out.

Thanks,
John

Hey All,

The main difference between the two models are speaker size, wattage and also the stereo line outputs on the 30 watt model. The 30 watt model also has a separate 10" woofer and tweeter while the 15 watt model has an 8" full range speaker.

And yes, you can play any audio from your computer through the amplifier. With the Fender ASIO driver installed on your PC, and the DEC Audio driver selected on OS X, the Fender G-DEC 3 functions like any other high quality, bi-directional audio interface.

Good answer Loren! You get a Gold star for that.

That's what I was hoping to hear.

Thanks for letting me/everyone know.

So unless you need the stereo line outs the 15watt G-Dec 3 should be fine. The full spectrum speaker would basically give you the same sonic dimensions as the split woofer and tweeter at bedroom volumes correct?

Does the headphone out of the 15 perform the same function of the stereo out of the 30?

Hey Tracy,

The headphone out is functionally similar to a direct line out meaning that you can use either to send a signal to external equipment. They are technically different meaning that one has a very low output impedance and the other has a high input impedance.

You can use the headphone out to send a "line level" signal to outboard gear but you'll have to play with the output volume to get a clean, distortion free sound.

I recommend the 30. The line outs are worth the difference. Just send the line out to a powered speaker or PA and you have all the wattage you could ever want. After a while you may want to take it out of the house and still be happy with it.

Question about the USB interface. Does audio coming from the G-DEC come into the computer through USB come in as a stereo mix or separate channels (guitar clean, guitar effects, aux audio in, backing tracks)?
