Hi, I bought two Rocktron S-112 cabinets and they each work on 8 ohms.
I'd like to connect both ten feet apart to my G-dec 30 (back panel speaker output to get a more spatial sound) without imparing the 8 ohms G-Dec standard or make it work on 16 ohms(I don't care about power loss since I use it only at home but I don't want to damage the amp). There are serial(16 ohms) and parallel (4 ohms)inputs on the back of each cabinet . Is there's a way to using both speakers and keeping the 8 ohms impedance ? I've heard about crossover but I'm no techno freak. Is there less danger of damaging the amp if I use a serial connection (16 ohms) instead of a parallel connection (4 ohms) ?

Do you have or recommend any device that I could use?

Thanks for any advice.

Are you planning to use the left and right Line Out jacks? If so, I think you'll find you need another amplifier to power your speakers. Line Outs are usually designed to run to a mixing board and/or a power amp and usually don't have the power to drive an external speaker.

The G-DEC 30's Extension Speaker output appears designed to run one speaker in mono, so I don't think that will give you the stereo separation that I assume you're looking for.

Disclaimer: I own the original G-DEC, not a G-DEC 30. However, I have experience with two-speaker bass rigs, PA systems, and various home studio stuff. Amplifying signals from a preamp or other line-level audio sources is all pretty similar. I hope someone will correct me if I'm mistaken about the G-DEC 30.

Thanks for your advice. My G-Dec is already connected via lines out to an amp but when I want to just use the amp alone and bypass the amp internal speaker my two S112 are 10 feet separated to give a larger but no stereo sound (this is not what I'm looking for)....I just want to know if running the amp on 16 ohms could damage it.
Thanks.

Running a 16 ohm load when the amp specifies a minimum 8 ohm load should be fine. Don't run a 4 or 2 ohm load.

Again, I don't own a "30" and haven't tried this - I'm basing my reply on experience with other amps and speakers.
