Don't know for sure on that but Fender usually adds features rather than taking them away. There's a smart card slot now so I think the SD Card holds 100's of backing tracks in all the keys, anyway. I watched the video and it looks like a fun amp. Any idea what the suggested price is at Guitar Center for the 15 Watt GDEC? :D

If not, find a song you already have, find out what key it is in, and download it to the amp. Or, find a backing track on the net, there are thousands of them. Either way it is better than a lame midi file.

If you go to the topic "Hello from G DEC3 Customer Support" you'll find more info. Below are some excerpts that should answer your question.

The new Band Tracks are all MP3 or WAV audio files. The new Fender G-DEC 3 gives you the ability to timestretch (50 to 150%) and/or pitchshift (+/- 5 steps) the audio on the fly.

While, technically you can't change the key like you can when using a MIDI sequence, the time stretch function allows you to change the pitch of what you're playing without changing the tempo. That, basically, will change the key of the song.

Hi, just got my new g dec 30 last night. I have an older g dec with the change keys option too. I got that one about 3 years ago I believe. Noticed your post was searching for the same answer as I have: Did you ever figure anything out about changing keys? There's definately a lot to learn about with this amp and that's the question that has me stumped right now.

I'd really appreciate some feed back if you've answered this riddle!

Hey All,

I assume you are speaking of MIDI Band Tracks. In order to change the key of a MIDI sequence you must first assign it to a preset. To do this, scroll to the preset you want and press the Band soft-key. To add a MIDI file, select MIDI in the "Band Type" screen then press the right arrow soft-key to select the MIDI file you want in the File screen. Continue to advance through the Band menu using the the right arrow soft-key to change the song tempo, Transpose settings, Drum Solo, and others settings.

To select an audio Band Track instead of a MIDI track, follow the same instructions except select MP3/WAV as the file type in the "Band Type" screen.

If you have any other questions feel free to contact us at 480-596-7195 or consumerrelations@fender.com.
