Sweetwater has it for $399 and $299. Not bad for the new upgrades.

Looks like the pricing is fair. Lets hope the amps work better than the original GDECs did.

3 seems like it may be the ultimate practice tool. The sound and features on the video are impressive. Line 6 Spider Jam just got 1 upped.

What would be nice for us who have purchased old G-decs, as a consolation, would be having the ability to transfer the new backing tracks and amp tones, effects.

-Future software upgrades can be loaded via MIDI. quote from the product page. I guess the future may have past for the previous edition of G-dec.

Can't hurt to ask.

Anyone hear if a footswitch will be included or possibly a new one to purchase separately or will maybe the ULT-4 for the old 30 be compatible?

SPECS ARE NOW PUBLISHED ONLINE....

Looks like the key differences between them are the cabinet physical sizes.
The 15Watt Output has an 8" speaker
vs. 30Watts with a 10" speaker.
Otherwise, specs/features seem identical with the exception that only the GDEC3-30 has Stereo Line outputs.

Cool... Both now have a footswitch jack for the same ULT-4 footswitch (same as the older GDEC-30) but it is not included with either model.

Hmmmm... IMHO enough improvements to tempt those that were holding back on a first purchase, but maybe not enough for me to upgrade from my present GDEC-30.
Knowing what I know now from previous experiences with both the GDEC-15 & 30, if the improvements really fixed the original design problems, then I'd say the 15W version has enough power as a practice amp, enough fetures, and a more affordable price.

If you haven't done so already, check out the demo with Shane Nichols on the new dec, it will blow your mind! Preset backing tracks by Eric Johnson, John 5,
Hatebreed,Anthrax, and a slew of many others! Yes, and much longer loops!
New intergrated software for download/upload capabilities as well as fine tune
tweakage for the tone snobs in all of us! It sounds amazing!

You no longer need to buy the midi to USB cable separately. It's one of the best practice tools available, in my opinion.

IMHO, I agree the demo sounds great (yes, I had previously watched it), but the preset backing tracks are such quick clips that it's not enough to really tell. If you remember, the original GDEC demos were just as impressive. Also I see no indication that the loops are definately longer (but I hope they listened to all of us users and increased them).
Notice that there are not any details specific to the length of the presets (other than you can add as many custom tracks as you like because of the memory card). Also, no mention of the overdub loop length feature (was 28sec on the old GDec 30).

What caught my eye on the video was when they zoom in on the display, that stupid "Rockin' GDEC" setting is showing. But is sure didn't sound like the "Rockin' GDEC" setting!
Realistically, demos are marketing tools to grab your attention. the proof will be when users get their hands on it and can really tweak it and hear what it can do..... guess we'll have to wait.

I love my Gdec-30 and if you tweak it, you'd be amazed at the sound you can get from those presets. You just have to venture into it and tweak away. Some users who didn't like the GDECs were dissatisified with the presets, but they used them as-is and never bothered to alter any of the settings. As-is, I'd say only 2 or 3 presets were worth using.

Last of all, you have to remember that it's still just a practice amp. If you're expecting it to sound like a classic tube Fender amp, forget it. It can sound fairly good, but like I said, it's a practice amp and I love it for what it is.

So, whoever's the first to get their hands on one of these, lets hear a real evaluation. Did anyone see it at NAMM???? Please post comments....

I have the first model GDEC and also bought a 30 with a footswitch when they came out. I've experienced none of the problems mentioned here with either unit, and I one of them daily. They are the ultimate practice tool, and great for recording. The tones are easy to personalize, I just love them.
I am all wound up about the new "3" model, and will be buying it with the cover and footswitch as soon as my local dealer gets one in. Great move Fender, the USB is long overdue, I knew you'd add it sooner or later.

....can't wait to get one!

So day 3 is wrapping up here at NAMM, but I've got a few minutes to answer a few questions I have seen posted around the web.

First off the MIDI synth is not gone. The G-DEC 3 still plays midi files(Type 0 and 1) found from the internal memory or SD cards. If you assign midi files to a preset you have control over the tempo, pitch, lead-in, and the ability to solo the drum track. With an audio track(MP3/WAV) on a preset you have the ability to independently timestretch(50 to 150%) and/or pitchshift(+/- 5 steps) the audio.

The amp supports SD and SDHC capacities up to 8 GB.

Now that the specs have been posted and we have video of the NAMM demos on the web let me know if there are any lingering questions and I'll try to answer them for you. Thanks,

I'm already using Ableton Live 8, but was wondering sbout the "AmpliTube® Fender LE modeling software". Is LE a light edition that is under the full version or limited type edition?

If so, what can't you do with the LE vs the full versions?

Concerning the footswitch question, it looks like the ULT-4 can be used with either unit, according to the specs.
"Footswitch: Optional "ULT-4" 4-Button Footswitch for Mode Select, Start/Stop of Backing Tracks and Phrase Samples, Program Select, Tuner Select, P/N 0994070000, US MSRP $81.99, (Not Included)"
