The product update release is posted with some general info... built-in interface, SD card slot, new preset tones (different format than how they are now), etc.... but no detailed specifications yet!

From link in blog :

The G-DEC 3 also includes the exclusive Fender FUSE™ software interface, which lets the amp connect to a computer as easily as a digital camera, without need for any special adaptors or hardware. Fender FUSE lets the user download and upload backing tracks, edit performance parameters and swap files with a worldwide community of players.

Other versatile G-DEC 3 features include:

•Digital amp and effects models that let the user create a personalized arsenal of guitar tones suited to every style of playing.
•Onboard mp3 and wav file storage and playback.
•Ableton® Live Lite 8 Fender Edition studio-quality recording and editing software.
•AmpliTube® Fender LE modeling software, which recreates classic Fender amp tones and delivers ultra-realistic speaker, mic and effects models.
•Multi-function SD card slot for unlimited storage of presets and audio content.
•Rugged Fender Special Design speaker (plus high-frequency tweeter on 30-watt model).
•Onboard phrase sampler with overdub and export functions.
•Onboard chromatic tuner.

I'm wondering what this "Fuse" interface is and if connects via USB directly to computers. Right now, you need the midi interface, but with the Amplitube software, I'm hoping it's a direct USB connection.

I got the 30 because my original 15 had a faulty data wheel. A lot of people have updating problems and software glitches too. Hopefully they found a way around it all.

All the DECs have a 5-year transferable warranty. They haven't even been on
the market for that long. The data wheel would be covered under warranty.

..."This is really a unique project," said Shane Nicholas, senior marketing manager for Fender guitar amps. "Because we have metal guys like Anthrax playing the metal rhythm section stuff; we have blues guys doing the blues backing tracks and the blues presets; country guys and actual R&B legends doing tracks.

"So it has a very authentic feel and sound, unlike things that are done strictly in the lab under a microscope. Add in the incredible potential of Fender FUSE, and you have what we believe is the finest practice amp in the world, connected to the world."

The new G-DEC 3 amplifiers will be in stores worldwide in April 2010.

Hey Shane...how about the specs?

Fender just posted the press release for the GDEC 3:

http://www.fender.com/news/index.php?di ... rticle=440

I almost bought the GDEC 30 for Christmas. I'm curious what the MSRP will be. Most GDEC 30s are selling for $299 now–supplies are low. They originally were around $350-400 when they first came out.

I don't think I can wait until April though!!!

Maybe, but we're their customers, and the G-DEC geeks posting here are likely to be the first to rush out and buy a G-DEC 3.

Of course, the drawback to having a bunch of computer geeks on here chomping at the bit for any Fender news is that we also gripe incessantly when anything is wrong and many of us do it on several forums. They probably don't laugh at that but at the same time I've got to think that the R&D guys take sane and sober criticism seriously, especially when many people report the same problems.

Hopefully those at Fender who are concerned with more than just this quarter's profits are laughing in delight because they have a whole community of "beta testers", as previously mentioned, for their products.

When Shane says "connected to the world", I'm imagining in a few years we'll be able to plug our 8th Generation G-DECs and B-DECs and probably whatever the latest Roland V-Drums are by then and have a jam over the internet with other players in real-time. I don't know squat about keyboards but I'm sure the keyboard guys will be able to get in on that too with new technology.

Add Skype to that with the inevitable advances that will come with video conferencing and we'll probably be able to see each other too. It will be great until Apple introduces the iHarmonica.

My point? I don't know - I'm just rambling here, but I guess what I'm saying is it's nice to see Fender hasn't abandoned the G-DEC concept and they are continuing to increase its capabilities.

I can. I'll probably wait until next April. That way they get the bugs worked out and the price should be a little lower. First adopters normally overpay for new products and become part of the reengineering process. I'm to impatient for that. Get it right, at the right price, then I'll buy it.

That's an excellent point! But, wouldn't the GDEC 3 be the "reengineering process" for the 30 and 15?

I'm right with you on getting it right the first time around.
