You can at the least blow the speaker! Fender made the B-DEC for the bass guitar so people who play bass would have something to fiddle with. Of course playing at a very low volume on the highend of the bass frequency may not blow the speaker.

I'm not and expert, Just deploying what it sometimes considered common sence. I't your amp. Let us know how it works out!

Solitare is right; the speaker is the weak point when using a guitar amp for bass. Bass speakers are designed to handle the extra excursion (speaker movement or travel) that bass frequencies create. Most guitar speakers aren't and you can blow them by playing bass through them. Trust me on this; I've done it twice with different guitar amps when I was younger and didn't know any better. If you must do it, keep the volume as low as possible.

Some say the G-DECs don't use guitar speakers but have a full-range speaker in them to reproduce the backing tracks better. That may be, but why take the risk?

Using a bass through the G-DEC 30's headphone output or the line out won't hurt anything. I've done that for direct recording with my G-DEC and have made an acceptable bass setting using the Acoustic amp setting, no effects, and a little compression. It doesn't sound as good as a proper bass preamp but it's okay for occasional use when I don't feel like setting up all my gear and just want to throw down a quick bass line.

The Gdec does have a full range speaker. You could, and I have, used a bass with the Gdec. I wouldn't go past about 66% volume.

The line out will work too.

When I play bass with the gdec, I use a Tweed amp setting and adjust as required. Remember, the Bassman was a tweed covered amp designed for the bass and used by guitar players.
