I created a midi type 0 song with Powertracks software by saving a mp3 song as a midi type 0. I used the Fender upload program to upload the midi type 0 file to the G-DEC 30, I think. .. The song name appears in S04. I try to play it by selecting it in SONG mode and pushing the START button. The start/stop button flashes but i don't hear any sound from the amp. At hhis point I can't break out ...... exit does nothing, .. only way is to power off/on the amp.
What should I check, or what am i doing wrong. I'm reasonably sure I have parameters set correctly, but maybe i'm missing something.
Here's a thought....is it possible to store a midi 0 song in the amps S bank in the first place?
Thanks.

It sounds like you are doing everything properly. Try checking the MIDI CONTROL option in the utility menu and set the value to SYNTH. My guess is that there are some Midi Continuous Controller messages on CH 16 in that song and the amp is trying to execute one of the MIDI commands listed on page 16 of the manual.

THANKS FOR THE REPLY. The midi songs i was trying to load appear to have made it to the GDEC because the names appear int the SBANK, and memory usage increased. But they don't play. The START button flashes and i have to reboot the amp to break free. I thought I would try something else. I had downloaded JAMMER songmaker5 demo so I tried using that program to load one of its demo midi songs to the gdec and that worked AND THE SONG PLAYED on the GDEC. Now im confused. When using jammer 5 to play its demos, the program display shows multi tracks for the different instruments. So, I assume that the demos are midi type 1 files, not type 0. I thought the manual said the GDEC only accepts midi type 0 single track files. Please shed some light on this if you can.

mgalexan,
Sorry to see you're still having trouble. You're correct that the G-DEC30 only accepts type 0 MIDI files. When using Jammer to transfer MIDI files to the G-DEC30 it automatically converts the file to type 0 prior to transmitting the file to the amp. I believe Jammer also parses MIDI files when they are first loaded which allows them to display all of the tracks in a song regardless of which format it was saved in.
As far as the songs you have loaded not playing please try my suggestion on changing the MIDI CONTROL option in the utility menu and then try to replay the files. By default that control is set to AMP, and in hindsight the default probably should have been set to SYNTH (since embedding continuous controller and program changes into a song is more of an advanced feature for MIDI wizards).
If you are still having trouble after changing the MIDI CONTROL option you can send one of the MIDI files you are having trouble loading/playing to consumerrelations@fender.com and ask them to pass it along to me so I can take a look at it.

Thanks,
-Brian

My mistake for not addressing your suggestion that I try to switch between AMP and SYNTH. I tried that and the song still did not play.
I tried to open an mp3 song with powertrack and then save it as a type 0 midi file. The saved file is only 1K in size, and it won't play on the GDEC using WINAMP or Jammer 5. So, I'm following up with powertrack tech support to find out what I'm supposed to do to convert mp3 to midi. I'll get back to you with my findings when I know more. Thanks for your help.

Just found out powertracks does NOT convert mp3 to midi. Now I'll search for a program that does.
