To all B-Dec owners. Did you Update your B-Dec? You probably downloaded the Updater from the Fender download site. It had it's own Updater.PDF file providing instructions for doing this update. This update has 3 parts. Did all 3 parts succeed for you? The instructions state the B-Dec will reboot after the parts 1 and 2 finish, then you must use the Utility button on the B-Dec to select "amp update" and finally press SAVE twice to put the amp in the proper mode for the last (3rd) update. These steps are identical to the steps required before doing the 1st & 2nd (both done together) updates. You may or may not have used the Step-by-step window to help navigate you through the B-Dec's menus to set up the amp for an update.

The instructions say: Once the update is complete the amp will automatically reboot, and BDEC 30 updater will automatically quit. Upon start-up the amp should now display v 1.04.02 in the bottom right corner, and just before the start-up sequence completes, you should see “DMR 1.02” flash in the bottom left. User presets and loaded songs will not be changed during the update process."

The truth is that the above version numbers show up EVEN IF only the 1st 2 updates succeed, BEFORE 3rd part/update is even attempted! So the fact that you have the correct version numbers above does not mean the 3rd part was successful!

"Updater will automatically quit", (without any error messages?) is the sign that all 3 parts to the update finished successfully.

Enter Update Mode
Run Update Software
Loading Host V04...
Upload Complete...
Loading DSP v02...
Auto Reboot
Renter Update mode
Press Program
Loading PSOC V03
Update application displays "Update Complete. Your B-DEC should Reboot shortly. Verify 1.04.02 and DMR1.03
Auto Reboot

Everything went smoothly... I am using Windows Vista SP1 X64 Ultimate and using a Midisport Uno Interface.

I think you have a bad chip on your board that is keeping the DMR1.03 from updating. If I may venture a guess I would say that the EPROM hosting the DMR is not accepting the write. I suggest that you take it to a Fender repair center and ask them to fix it... It has a 5yr warrenty covering defects I believe.

Mine updated OK last night. I had to update the brand new midi to usb adaptor first, and it took me over an hour of "fiddling" to figure that out. I bought the M-audio 1x1. Now, on to learning the bass!

I found the B-DEC used at GC. More like an "open box" condition, as the previous owner traded it in without turning it on.

Not a B-Deck, but I can't get my new (Just Bought It New) G-Deck 30 to update from version 1.03.00. Am using the Cakewalk UM-1G usb midi interface after reading here that it works perfectly.

I can't get any of the approved midi interfaces listed on the G-Deck documentation because they are old and no longer sold here in New Zealand. :(

Try updating the cakewalk first. That was my problem, the midi interface came with outdated software. After you update your interface, then update the G-deck. Hope that works for you!

Rock on

Thanks for the advice, I had downloaded the newest drivers still couldn't do anything but play midi file from my Laptop, I was told that the M-Audio Midisport UNO was working for Strat Cat so just shot up to Auckland (3 hour round trip) and got one.

Literally just installed it (downloaded new drivers first) It worked a treat, installed update, and am now listening to in imported midi file!! Yay..!

Thanks Mate I appreciate the help! :P
