18 Months ago I posted my 1st message here. Almost 1800 people viewed it. No one replied. This is my 2nd request for HELP !!!

I was using an M-Audio Audiophile 192 PCI card's MIDI interface and the 1st 2 updates were always successful and the 3rd update always hung!

The only reason I got the B-Dec was so I could download midi files to it and then carry my backing "band" around with me as I played the guitar part. I got the B-Deck so there would be more "bottom" for the bass & keyboards in those midi files.

Last week I ordered another midi interface which was on Fender's approved list, the: "MOTU FastLane-USB". It installed without problems and works with all my other midi software.

It too, does the 1st & second updates successfully, and after the B-Dec reboots, It displays v 1.04.02 in the bottom right corner and "DMR 1.02" flashes in the bottom left. On the PC screen there is the new window telling me it's going to reboot, and after it does, I go back into the B-DEC utility menu to get back to the amp update screen on the B-DEC. If I continue in the step by step mode, when I click the Update button on the PC screen, the green light on the midi interface flashes once, followed by the red light (for port A in both cases, which is where the cables are attached) and then there is a 10 second delay. During the delay the PC screen still says Loading DSP (2 of 3), but the B_DEC LCD shows "Loading PSOC V03". Neither progress bar moves. After about 10 seconds, on the PC a new windows says "Not receiving a response from the unit, please make sure BOTH MIDI in and out cables are connected correctly. Please restart and try again. I've done so 25 or so times trying cold boots instead of restarts, and "program" instead of "step by step" and I even invoked the program using the -f parameter from a DOS window. In all cases it hangs at the beginning of the 3rd update step. It appears the B_DEC knows the 3rd step has begun, but the PC software seems to belive it still on the 2nd step?

Is anyone out there really using their B-Dec or G-Dec to play midi backing files successfully? Prove it to me. Tell me how it's done!

-Bill

My update failed yesterday. Now I can't use the amp at all. What did you do? Can you reset the B-DEC so it will go back the way it was?

Hi guys,
Sorry I cant help you with the B dec, did you call customer support?

I have the Gdec 30 and I use midi files as backing tracks... seems to work although the midi files i have are not very good.

Good luck

Bill
