Woolsey,
I believe that the streaming referred to means that MIDI sequenced tracks can be played thru the G-Dec like the ones that are stored in it from the factory, but I'm not certain that they can be saved in the G-Dec.
I do know that you can transfer settings via MIDI from one G-Dec to another via Sysex Dump.
I did'nt read into the MIDI in great depth since my PC is an old one and I cannot at this moment, download any upgrades to my G-Dec until I can move the at least windows XP.
All of the MID should be explained in the manual

I'm looking for info about the GDECs to try and decide if to go after a second-hand unit on fleabay. I've read quite a few posts about the datawheel issue. Can someone clarify what the present position is?

Is the problem hardware or software?
If it's software, is it possible to update software after.
If it's hardware, I read that there is a 5 year warranty with these units. Does anyone know if the warranty is transferrable?

I had a problem with the data wheel on my 15, Fender replaced the amp with a store credit that took 6 weeks. I upgraded to a 30 and have dad no real problems. You need the original receipt signed over to you from the original seller. I know that's how it works with the regular amps because I did it. Not sure about the GDecs. My guess is it works the same way but you should check with Fender first.

I have G-Dec 15, (Exec) actually, and the Data wheel is a delicate part I'll admit. I believe it to be the same way with any model G-Dec. You simply cannot wrench this part of the amp, a gentle touch would be the best approach.
I believe the issue about buying any used G-Dec would be if the previous owner handled that too roughly. If not, then you should be good to go with the used amp. I'm looking for a pair of them myself to give as gifts to a couple of teenagers whom I already purchased guitars for. Those will make great learning tools for them.

Just as a note: The Data Wheels on both my G-Decs do the same thing when I first power up the amp- they are somewhat stiff to turn and when it's like that, the program banks jump all over the place, they certainly don't scroll in order. After the amps have been on for about 20 minutes, then the Data Wheel will turn more freely, and the programs will scroll smoothly. Other than that, I have no complaints at all about the G-Dec amps. They just have a lot of fun built into them :!:

Hi,

If your G-Dec is not under warranty take a look here:

Mine was new out of the box and never abused and the data wheel failed in a month. The presets just jumped all over the place. The wheel wasn't stiff to turn either, it just jumped. Fender didn't even fix it they replaced the amp with a store credit. It took six weeks. I used the credit for a GDec 30. Personally, I'd look for a used Line Six Spider Jam or a new GDec 3. Live tracks are way better to jam with than MIDI tracks.
Just my 2cents YMMV

That's exactly what mine do when I power them up, the presets jump all over the place, but that all settles down after the amp has been on for about 20 minutes. I got mine new and both are under warranty too so, we'll see what happens if I should need to use that warranty. Other than that little annoyance, they are some of the coolest little amps I've seen

I have had this amp for a couple of years now and for most of that time it sat because it bugged me so much to deal with the erratic controls... But I did like it and swore one day I would figure out how to repair the problem. GOOD NEWS! After reading how to clean the control knob without damaging any wiring, etc I have done it!!! It was an easy fix that I wish I had done loooooong ago. It's working absolutely perfect now. Thanks to those who posted the pics/ how to, I'm way stoked to have it better than it ever was before!

Would you care to share the secret? Not that I'm having a problem with mine, it still works great. The only time the presets jump around on ine is when the amp is cold. Leave it on for about 20 minutes and it's fine again.
