Been happy with my BDEC - now about 1.5 years old. However, recently upon start-up - the screen will procuce a bunch of has followed by a high and loud squealing sound. Anyone else experience this?
I turn it off and turn it on again after about 30 seconds - and it works fine.

More of annoyance than an ongoing, everyday problem. oh yes, I do have MIDI in and out cables running from the computer upon start up. I havent tried removing the cables, because it's a bit inconvenient.

Thanks. Todd

I had a problem with my B-DEC kind of glitching out and hanging. I couldn't change any setting until I cycled the power. So I thought maybe I would try going back to an older version of firmware.

To make a long story short, it turns out that the firmware update procedure requires what seems like two updates. I stopped it after the first update thinking I was done; it didn't get the full update. It seemed to work except for the intermittent hang problem. After I did the full, correct update, it has been working perfectly.

You're not going to believe this but my B-DEC started hanging again. Every time I dial to setting number 32, it would crash. I tried reloading the firmware but it didn't help this time. I had the same problem over and over: it crashed every time I went to setting number 32.

I did notice that the top of the display panel was kind of hot. I had the B-DEC tilted back so I imagine a lot of heat would convect up to that top area. I started wondering if it could be a thermal problem. I usually leave my B-DEC turned on so it had a lot of time for heat to build up.

So, I turned off the B-DEC and let it cool down. I turned it on again later and it worked perfectly. Now, I have to wonder if those things need better ventilation.
