Dear friends,
I just got my G-dec 30, and I like it a lot, but I just discover something that I don't know if it's normal or my G-dec is defective.
I heard some kind of buzzing noise when I play the F on the 13th fret on the 6th string (thickest one). And a little bit less on the F on the 1st fret. I can also heard a little bit of buzz on the E on the 12 fret (sixth string) if I crank up the output on my guitar.
It looks to me that around that frequency, it's vibrating with some component of the amp (maybe something is loose)? It doesn't bother me a lot since I don't really play anything that low, but if my amp is defective, I want to exchange it. It is also possible that bass notes may just normally vibrate with the components of the amp. This is my first EG amp, so I don't know.
Please try this on your G-dec 30 if you could, and let me know. Thanks!
Joe

I recently took my GDEC 30 in for warranty repair for a data wheel issue and they replaced it with a brand new unit. Unfortunately, I just took the replacement in for warranty repair because of a buzzing issue similar to yours. Something in the electronic section of the unit, in the amp head, was buzzing when I played G through Bb on the 6th string. It's not noticable when playing distorted, but if you play with a clean sound, especially with bass-boost, it is very apparent. I tightened every screw and checked the cabinet thoroughly. It seems to be something in the boards, pots, data cables or display that is rattling. It'll be another 4-6 weeks to get replacement. They don't fix these things, they just replace, so make sure you backup any beloved settings before you take it in. Very frustrating. The original unit was less than 2 yrs old when data wheel issue surfaced, went without it for 6 weeks, had replacement for 1 week and now I won't have an amp until somewhere around mid March. If yours is brand new, your dealer may just replace it on the spot. Good luck.

I had a buzzing in my B-DEC at certain frequencies. I opened it up to find some sort of metal foil used for shielding inside the amp. I repositioned the foil, closed it up and it has been fine since.

Hi, I still have the "old" 30 and it's working well...but last year I changed the speaker for a 50W Jensen and I had to remove the back cover to discover that some internal parts were loose and were causing vibrations. Maybe this link will help:

I had a similar problem. took off the back, and tightened the nuts holding the speaker in place. each nut tightened easily. replaced cover, and now th ebuzzing is gone.

If your g-dec is still under warranty, perhaps your local Fender repairer could check it out.
