Is there a way to adjust the settings to create more of a jazz sound similar to what George Benson produces?

How to get a Jazz Tone has been a common question for G-Dec series amps and I haven't seen a definitive answer. I don't have the answer, but here are some guidlines I've picked up.

The concensus seems to be starting with the Dynatouch 1 amp model, volume around 7-8, gain at 4-8. Most people shape the tone with lows at 7-10, mids around 4-5 and highs < 4. (wide range, but goal is clean sound, so depends on your guitar output). You may also want the bass-boost timbre. BTW, I've also tried the acoustic amp model with interesting if not perfect results. I little reverb helps too, but keep it <2.

For George Benson in particular, I've read he uses flat-wound strings. Heavyier gauge is better. I've tried stainless flatwound before and they sounded nice. I think thomastic makes a nickel flatwound that would be more mellow.

Strings make a huge difference. I only have one guitar and have set up some channels for jazz sound while I had solid nickel windings on. Sounded pretty decent. When I changed to standard stainless light set (because that's what I had), it sounded harsh and needed adjusting.

Try it out and post your best result.

Thanks for the great suggestions. I am still working out some of the details, but that got closer than I was getting with trial and error. I selected no FX and no rub type and that sounds OK, but mono delay with 1.9 FX level and delay time sounds a little better.
