What is the current version for the G-DEC? The website says "Upgrades the G-DEC to revision 1.03.03", however when I turn on my amp it says 1.04.04 in the lower right hand corner of the screen.
What's the deal?

BTW, I just got the G-DEC and can't believe how much fun it is.

OK, I see that a lot of people are reading this post. Will _anybody_ post what version they are using? That is, what comes up on the screen when they turn on the G-DEC.
TIA

If you have a GDEC 15 the version is 1.03.03. If you have a GDEC30 the version is 1.04.00.03

Hope this helps

John

This won't help in determining what the current version is, but I bought my G-DEC in 2005. I turned it on when I got home from work tonight and it's running v 1.02.

I've never seen a reason to "upgrade" it as it works fine as is and always has. Heck, I don't even own a MIDI computer cable, so I couldn't "upgrade" it even it I wanted to. I have found the Greg Koch settings online and manually entered them - I love the "Torture Tele" setting - but don't know why I'd want to hook my amp to a computer and risk changing anything.

I hang out at a few guitar forums besides this one and while I've seen some legitimate complaints about data wheels scrolling improperly and other concerns, I think I've read more gripes about guys having trouble "upgrading" their G-DEC software than any other complaint.

I say if it ain't broke, don't fix it! :D

This message was brought to you from a Power Macintosh 5500/250 running System 8. (honest!)

Hi!
I have tried to update my G-DEC® and when i boot it up says v.1.02

"G-DEC Updater Version 1.03.03" i downloaded from www.fender.com
I set the amp to recive and it says in the display "MIDI update Loading UI V 03" and later "MIDI update Loadin FX V 03" and finaly "MIDI update Update completed"
When the progreson bar goes to the end on the PC and the AMP reboots it stil says v.1.02!!!

So whats wrony, is my AMP broken??? :?:
It plays MIDIs and it sems to work as it should but i cant update!
Send and recive presets works fine.

And is there a v.1.04.04 version available!? Where is it in that case? Or is that version only for the new and bigger amps?

Hope anyone can bring light to this!

When I bought my very first G-DEC 30 it came with the original 1.01.00 software on it, the next two I bought came with 1.02 on them, but you can't get rid of the three dorky songs Fender puts on the amp until you get up to Version 1.03. I quickly discovered that if you update the software on a G-DEC 30 you have to do the updates IN ORDER!

So I had to update all of the Version 1.02 amps to 1.03 and then to 1.04. It didn't always work right the first time and I got a bit frustrated, but in the end I got all six of my G-DEC 30 amps converted to 1.04 and dumped the three original songs from Fender (they do take up space) and proceeded to load what I wanted on all of them.

This is where you can get both the 1.03 and 1.04 versions of the software and you will need a good MIDI interface to make it all happen. The M-Audio UNO never worked for me, had to go to the M-AUDIO MIDI Sport 2x2 for flawless performance.

Good luck and keep that G-DEC 30, the new 3 Thirty ain't all it's cracked up to be - I have two of those, too.

hi guys, my g-dec30 was bought in 2007 when i turn it on it shows 1.02.00, i have never updated since i bought it, based on what i'm reading i will have to upgrade to 03 before i can go to 04? also i just bought the m-audio midi sport uno is it true this will not work for me, its still in the package so i don't want to open it if i'm taking it back, i'm just looking to update the pre sets more then anything. it sounds like it's gonna be a pain in the but, is it really worth all the trouble?

I just got my G DEC 15 a few days ago. V 1.02 is what comes up on mine. BUT......it works and then clicks, flashes and the screen says loading host. I put a couple of wraps of electrical tape on the power cable so it fit tighter in the socket,(thinking I had a loose connection) but the amp started doing this again. Anyone run into this before?
