I found a pre-set for a clean channel. How would I add distortion to it using the G-Dec functions. I can't find distortion via the FX menu.

There are to ways to get a distortion or high gain sound.

From the FX menu, select "Overdrive". Turn up the level to obtain the amount of gain you need. This emulates a pedal distortion unit feeding an amplifier.

The other method has more variables. Frm the amp menu select an appropriate amp for the sound or style you are after. To have a high gain or moderately over-driven sound don't use: Blackface 1, Tweed 1, or Dyna-Touch 1. They stay clean no matter how much gain you add.

Once you have selected an appropriate amp type, for example Dyna-Touch3, adjust the gain value to achieve the over-drive sound you desire. Then, use the volume value to make the patch a similar loudness as your other patches.

While you are there, you can also adjust the 3 tone controls, timber, compression and noise gate.

I try to use the amp menu to get the gain I want, saving the FX menu for other things: delay, chorus, flange, etc.

Don't be afraid to use all the menus. Good luck.

Hey thanks for the answering that. I was trying to mess with the gain using blackface1 and nothing was happening. Now I know why.
Thanks again.
