Well, I've been playing a Mustang, along with other guitars, for many, many years, and just joined the Fender amp family with a G-Dec Junior.

Yeah--it's at the bottom of the G-Dec chain--and some people don't like them. But I've been trying out amps for a while, and was looking for an inexpensive practice amp. I did consider going with a Frontman, as I want reverb, but the extra bells & whistles on the Junior made it too hard to pass up for a practice amp.

Yes, I know the shortcomings, but that's okay--it's just for playing around with at home and having fun with.

Any way--It sounds cool, looks cool, is fun and was cheap.

Mission accomplished.

I may ask some questions as I experiment with it, or share opinions and advice about it with others.

I'd have posted this earlier, but I had too much fun with it last night, and today.

I've checked some of the other threads already--but so far I'm good with the sound. It's just for a fun practice amp I can play in any room at home. And I can jam along with it too.

But there have been some interesting things in some of those threads. I hope to explore the MIDI options one day--that's where the other threads could be helpful.

Welcome to the family. This thread and Mygdec.com are the two best around. There are others, but if you can;t find something on one of these two, you probably won't find it.

Feel free to ask questions. Some one will answer. You may even get several points of view.

Thanks--I've browsed through Mygdec.com as well--I may just register there as well.

One thing that is taking a while to get used to is that different amp sounds play at different volumes--they're automatically louder or quieter.

Also--I've been experimenting with different guitars--different ones work better with different amps. My Mustang works well with most of them, but a couple of them are a bit weak with it compared to my humbucker guitars.

But that just means more experimenting is needed. And I'm thinking of making up a chart to list which amps work well with which guitar.

What you have noticed is exactly why I went with the Fender products. They are more responsive to your instrument. When you change pickups, you her the difference.

Most "modeling" systems, it doesn't matter what instrument you have or how it's controls are set because they all sound the same. Here, the amp lets the personality of your instrument and playing style come through.

The down side is you need more experimentation to figure out the precise sound you re looking for.

Best wishes with your G-DEC, Zontar! I'm having some fun with mine. I got the E-MU XMIDI 1x1 USB MIDI interface and it works great!

Check out the reviews :

Thanks--I don't have much experience with MIDI, so I'd need to check that out--but first I want to spend some time with the what the amp comes with. Any tips on getting into the MIDI? What other MIDI stuff do you have?

I see it as another excuse/reason to play guitar!
