I'd love to try an extension cab on my Bdec. It's barely loud enough for the bedroom. But as far as I can tell, you need to remove the amp chassis to unplug the speaker! Is that really true?

I don't own one, but I looked at the manual - it's downloadable from the B-DEC page - http://www.fender.com/products//search.php?partno=2354200000

On page 5 - it shows the rear panel. Object Q is labeled Speaker Out - and the explanation says:

Quote:
Connection for the internal (or external) speaker cabinet. An external speaker should be rated for 30 watts, 8 ohms minimum.

I would assume from that description, the internal speaker is plugged into this jack, and when you want to use an external cab, you unplug the internal one, and plugin the external one.

This image from musiciansfriend.com clearly shows that configuration.

Hope this helps,

Thanks, but if that photo was just a fraction of an inch lower, you would see my problem. What you're looking at is either an "L" shaped plug, or the 90 degree end of a cable that is mounted directly to the top of the cabinet. So it can't pull back or up. Apparently, the only way to unplug it is to unscrew the chassis and move it forward away from the plug. Seems a little tedious to switch back and forth!

It is really not that hard to disconnect the speaker out on the B-DEC (Ihave done it dozens of times). However, if you are looking for more power, unplugging the speaker out on the B-DEC and running it into a cabinet won't solve your problem, due to the fact that the B-DEC can only push 30 watts of power. What you want to do is get another amp, run the B-DEC's line out through it, and use the B-DEC as a monitor (I have done all of this). Keep in mind, the B-DEC can be very noisy so you may need to run the B-DEC thru a mixing console or a DI Box to eliminate line noise.
