For those that are using the G-DEC-30 with an extension speaker cabinet, how much of an improvement in sound has this provided? With an extension cab, would you have any recommendation for better tone as far as speaker size or number--that is, 2-10s or 1-12 or 2-12s or . . . ? With all settings remaining the same, does the overall volume go up or down or stay the same when plugging in an extension cabinet (I've never used one)? Since May, I've been having a blast with the G-Dec-15, and I'm just considering getting the -30. I understand it has more backing tracks. Does the -30 have any minor key progressions? Thanks for any input.

I upgraded from the base Gdec to the -30. The sound quality of the amp alone is significantly better.

If you are using the extension cabinet, there are two choices. If you are only playing, using a musical instrument cabinet will sound really good. If you use the backing tracks and the aux input, I recommend you use a large stereo speaker. You remember, the big ones from the 80's. The sound quality throughout the musical range will be better with a fuller base and more defined highs.

You can try this out for yourself with your Gdec buy setting the volume on 3 or 4 and running a stereo cable from your phones jack to an aux in or other input on your home sound system. You will be very suprised at the sound qulaity from these amps.

The -30 doesn't have more backing tracks. It looks like you have the same backing tracks. There are a few more presets. There is the external speaker out and L/R line outs and a foot switch that you didn't have as well as the additional wattage to make it more valuable to have the external speaker jack. And you can save midi files to the amp so your not tied to the computer.

I don't know if anyone else has tried this yet, but I have been connecting my GDEC to my stereo system, and the sonics of the effects and backing drums and bass come through fantastically!!!! I got the idea after using headphones and realizing that this thing has stereo capability. You have to have a "good" system....but your resulting sound is great.
Playing straight through the amp's 10 inch speaker only is somewhat harsh on the ears. Going through a stereo system gives a real "presence" and is easier on the ears. The subtle nuances of the backing drums/bass/accompaniments really pop out in stereo. This really makes the "one man band" concept a reality.

I agree, run your headset out to your home stereo aux in. Set the volume on 3 or 4.

The sound in incredible.

Without upgrading your 15 watt G-Dec, you can open the back of the amp (this voids the warentee) and disconnect the speaker. Patch the speaker leads to any, single, large stereo speaker. The sound here is great too, but not in stereo.

If you are using the amp for only guitar, a musical instrument cabinet will work. Make sure you are using an 8 ohm cabinet.

If you are using the MIDI files, backing tracks and/or the aux input, use a full range speaker system like a book shelf speaker or home sound system. The sound is so much better.

I'm using an external speaker cabinet with my G-30. The improvement is absolutely phenomenal. Even though it's a very old musical instrument cabinet, with 1- 12" and 2-4" speakers, it makes a world of difference. If you want easy, and maximum benefit, an external speaker is the way to go.
