Maybe I'm missing something, but I don't get the presets.
Once I listened to each one a couple of times, I would just
as soon have deleted them.
I play country. Maybe that explains everything. How
players can play in all those different styles is beyond me.
That's not to say the DEC is not a great amp, because it
is. But I only need a couple of rhythms, you know, western,
Chicago, swing. The rest don't do me any good.
I appreciate what Fender is doing, covering all those bases.

You could always download some country swing, rockabilly and whatever midi files?

Yeah, Mike, that's what I oughta do. I put in
to Heath forthe "Methods" book so I can learn
about that (without pestering my friends.)
I have the User mode about half full, so I still have
so me time.
I think it's a neat little unit. I am using mine
basically as a drum machine in public, cuz' the
guitar and microphone tone through the Fender
Acoustasonic Ultralight can't be beat, for my style.
I stuck a 3/4" condenser into the input, and you
should hear the vocals. I use the main mike,
1" condenser, then ease over to the "effects"
mike, about 8" to the side, for occasional
emphasis. Each song sounds different. It's a
blast. Warning, the DEC is not really set
up for vocals. I can only crank to about 4
on the volume before it feeds back. But, it's
fine for the small rooms I play. Rockers
would not care for it. Unless, of course,
Fender decides to add a powered XLR :)

I don't, and I'm not planning, to gig with mine, but rather use it to keep my chops in shape.

If you wanted to gig with it, the Sennheiser e6095 is a great mic to use because of it's response and shape, even better than a Shure SM-57, IMO.

Knowing nothing about MIDI, I decided to take
the plunge, get the MIDI interface (Noted the
warning about the UNO) and downloaded the
MIDI guide from the Fender site. All I can say
is "Holy Cow!" The synthesizer in the DEC-30
is a hidden powerhouse.
I will be able to create and store folders of
70 song sets of drum and backup tracks,
either custom made or commercially available,
keep them on the MacBook Pro until needed,
load whatever one is wanted into the amp,
getting rid of unused presets at the same time,
and be good to go with whatever the application.
What triggered me to action was the need for
a 3/4 backup. (This singer asked to perform
Kenny Rogers' "Lucille")
I am absolutely excited about the prospects.
(When you buy a DEC-30, you get a tiny synth
in a 30 watt amp that weighs about 15 pounds.
Fender rocks! :P

Holy Cow is right. I got the E-MU Midi/USB interface and use it with keyboards, guitars and the G-DEC 30.

Mike, I keep the Gain around 3.5 to 5.0. When I turn it up closer to the 5.0, I start hearing a little hum so to eliminate that I turn the Gain back down to the 3.5 setting.

I use one of these Ebtech devices - no hum at all!

No problem, also Ebtech, as well as others, make a wide variety of hum cancelling devices.
