I am the owner of a functioning GDEC 3 30, and use it nearly everyday. I Own all the Hal Leonard book/SD artist cards and the only thing I would want to do is increase the size of the onboard hard drive (HD) to allow more on-board storage for backing tracks. I ocassionally have problems with the unit getting warm and the SD cards are sometimes difficult to eject.

My question to the moderators is "is it possible to install a higher capacity HD?"

Hi collinsml,

I have a G-DEC 3 30 also. Just my opinion, why bother with trying to upgrade the hard disk. I have 10 of the Hal Leonard SD cards and copied all of them onto an 8GB Scan Disk (216 tracks) and still have room left on the card.

I haven't tried it yet, but I believe the G-DEC will read a 16GB Scan Disk, so that would enable you to store close to 500 backing tracks. Way cheaper than a hard disk.

Plus, I'm sure it would void your warranty if yours is still valid.

Jerry

Hi Jerry, thx for the suggestion. I will try that. I thought I had tried before, but I bet I used too small of an SD card...

Regards,

Mike
