Love my Passport 300 Pro- but there are times I want the one channel/speaker to be louder than the other. Like if I am playing at a venue with ppl right in front of one speaker- I would like the ability to turn that speaker volume down- while keeping the volume up on the other. Any way to do this?
I was thinking of running the 1/8" stereo out to a powered monitor- and running out of that to one of the speakers. I will try this- but has anyone else figured out a way to do this?

Fender tried to keep things simple when they designed the Passport line. Generally speaking, for this kind of system, people want mono output so that everybody hears the same mix at the same volume, but some people have stereo effects, so they give you stereo inputs for the system, so anything that goes in stereo comes out stereo, but anything that goes in mono comes out mono.

So here's an idea: Get a small external line-level mixer that takes the same inputs as your Passport, but lets you either pan them in stereo, or lets you control the left and right outputs at separate levels. Now, plug the line-level outputs from this external mixer into the left and right 1/4" inputs to one of your stereo channels in the Passport.

Basically, you use the external mixer for all your mixer functions, and you use your Passport as a power amp and passive speaker system. When you don't have the unusual setting that requires different volume levels, leave the external mixer at home or in your toolbox. Pull it out just when you need it.

You'll probably like the mixer in the Passport better than the external mixer, but we all have to make compromises when we want something that's different from the specific features built into the gear we own. This is also a way to learn more about the specific sound reinforcement needs you may be developing, and about other gear you may eventually shift toward as you learn more. The Passport is the perfect system to start with, and for many, it's all they'll ever need. Over time, you decide which camp you're in.
