Coming out in March is this new Digi-tech band creator called Trio. I've been waiting for some thing like this for a long time now -to have a bass play along side of me but it was never perfected enough, but this might be it .My question to you guys is, if i get it do i have to run the bass and drums separate or run the whole works through the 500 ?

It looks like it functions like an effects box, adding its signal to the guitar sound. That's why it has to have volume knobs for the bass and drums; so you can balance the sound between each of them and the guitar.

So, you'd use one 1/4"TS instrument cable to connect your guitar to the Trio, and another 1/4"TS instrument cable to connect the Trio to your Passport 500 Pro, all going into one channel in the 500 Pro. You can then add more channels for voice, or other sound sources, if you have any.

So run it through the 500 then, ok thought maybe I would of had to get a separate amp for the bass.

Hey Louis, if your Passport doesn't handle the low bass well, you may have to pop for the matching Fender sub-woofer. Plus you are probably going to have to EQ your system a bit differently now. Either way, you'll find out.

The issue is that your guitar sound, your bass sound and your drum sound will all be going through one 1/4"TS cable, so having a separate amp for the bass won't work. If you want things sorted out to play more powerful lows, it has to happen after the Passport, not before.

The 500 has pretty good bass. Not great, but pretty good. Likely, just using it will be enough, depending on what kind of sound you want. A subwoofer really gives you less bass sound than it gives you bass feel. If you want the bass to shake you, you need a subwoofer.

The Fender subwoofer looks like a perfect match. Note that when you plug it into the Sub Out port, the Passport engages its own crossover. It stops trying to play frequencies below 250Hz. That makes the sound noticeably louder and clearer coming out of the Passport's speakers, since low frequencies require a lot of wattage to push the speaker cones in and out that far, and now the Passport can use that wattage more efficiently just playing mid-range and treble sounds.

Also, note that when you use a subwoofer with the Passport, the volume of the subwoofer is controlled at the subwoofer. While turning the channel volume up and down on the Passport will bring the volume up and down in the subwoofer as well, turning the Master Volume up and down on the Passport has no effect on the subwoofer. The signal to the Sub Out bypasses the Master Volume and Master Tone controls.

This can be surprising or confusing if you don't understand what is going on. So, whenever you touch the Master Volume, keep in mind that you may need to adjust the subwoofer to match it, to make the EQ balance sound right.

Well I got it , tried for 10 min , packed it up in the box and brought it back and got full refund .I play live and this thing is not meant for live venues , the drums you might get away with but certainly not the bass . You have to put it in learn mode , and you really can't go over all the chord changes in front of an audience then hit the play switch. Next time I'm gonna do my home work better . So now I wonder if this Beat Box drummer is good .

You might want to reconsider your goal. I've seen people do this sort of thing with loops, and they pretty much do exactly what you describe. They lay down a rhythmic groove, just like the demo video shows, (what you are calling "Learn Mode") and then they play over top of it as it repeats. I suspect you are asking too much of an effects box.

Find a friend who plays bass. An effects box will never be so intelligent that it can replace an actual bass player, who can listen to you and improvise along with you, and make changes that you have practiced together with a nod or a word. You are disrespecting what a bass player does if you think you can just plug your guitar in and have it just "play bass" while you play guitar. It's not going to happen.

Or record yourself playing bass and do whatever you want, then play the recording while you play guitar live with it. I don't recommend this practice, but it's more likely to get you the end product you seem to be looking for.

But I still think it's better to find a friend who plays bass. You'd have more fun playing, too.

Same here. Looked at the review videos, ordered it online, tried it out for 15 minutes and sent it straight back.
It recognizes the chords and the tempo quite well, but it just sounds like crap, especially though a guitar amp.

Playing around with a electro-harmonix B9 pedal now instead, and that's much more fun.

this isn't quite on topic but is related. I just bought a digitech RP360XP. Its an effects box that has drum tracks and loops. Loops and drum tracks don't work at the same time for this model, but I don't use loops so it works well for me. The reason I got it is that it has a usb connection. I plug in a bass, with the drum track ( the drum tracks are fair) and record it via USB to my audio software. Then playback the recording outside the audio software, and add leads etc. recorded to the audio editor and then start stacking. The 360 was only $200 the effects are adequate but do sound a bit "digital" . The only problem I had was a lag when monitoring through the 360, that was solved by isolating the Bass/Drum track outside the editor. But as mentioned before nothing can compare to having a bass player and drummer all playing together, but for the price it works good for writing and ther or no personality conflicts( except in my own head) :D
