Appreciate a quick reply if anyone knows the answer: We have a Passport PD250 and I am wondering if there is a conversion cable that would let me output the audio to my computer's USB port to record for podcasts? Since I already have the mics and the mixing board, it would be nice to use existing equipment rather than purchase another mixer that would attach to the mics and USB. Thanks

The PD250 has two RCA ports for "Tape Out". Your best bet is to Google "audio interface usb" and start shopping. Most of what you will find will be what you are probably describing as "another mixer".

There is no simple cable adapter to do what you want because USB is digital, and the Passport is an analog mixer. You need the circuitry to convert the analog signal coming out of those two RCA ports into a digital signal that can go into that USB port.

Most of these USB audio interfaces take XLR or 1/4" mono inputs. If your mix is mono, then you can use something as simple as Fender's "Slide Interface:

http://www.fender.com/home-studio/slide ... 00000.html

You'll then need a single RCA-to-1/4"TS mono adapter for the Fender Slide and one side of your typical RCA cable to connect just the left channel of the Tape Out (or use the right -- if your signal is mono, it won't matter) and you should be good to go.

Other companies make various USB interfaces that take analog audio inputs. They come in a wide range of prices and features. Most take XLR or 1/4"TS input with one or more channels. The multi-channel units with more than two channels usually have a mixer (which you've already said you don't want).

Good luck finding the interface of your dreams. Or at least one that gives you what you are looking for.
