I have a PD-150 with damage to both speaker cabinets - the actual speakers (two tweeters, one woofer) are fine. I have found a pair of used P150 speaker cabs (with the older style dual 5" speakers) that I would like to use to replace the damaged cabinets of the PD-150. I have removed the front screens and the single screw that attaches about midway thru the front baffle - but there are no additional screws to allow the baffles to be removed that I can see (apparently different assembly than the PD-250 model). Does anyone know if it is possible to further disassemble these cabinets?

Thanks for any advice or insight.

I don't have direct knowledge; haven't seen this unit. Google search pulls up:

http://www.fixya.com/support/t2269229-o ... 50_speaker

I'm suspecting that won't help you. No pictures and the description is very vague. It sounds like the panel should just come out after you have the screws loose, and then you have to deal with the circuit board fastened to the back of the panel, but to be honest, while I can tell that the guy asking the question is asking about the speaker, the guy answering appears to be talking about the mixer.

So, I looked around for pictures of the P150. Does the 1/4" jack have a nut around it? Could that be holding the panel on? I'm must making a wild guess here.

I'm curious about the damage to the original cabinets. Any chance that a little fiberglass work could patch it? Having never seen one damaged, they seem somewhat unusually durable.

Hello ContraCaller - thanks for your reply...

I believe you are correct regarding the link to Fixya.com post - he is referring to the speaker jack in the back of the power module. I did find a youtube video showing replacement of an individual speaker on the PD-250 series, but that larger speaker enclosure has eight additional screws holding the front baffle to the box. When these are removed, the back box just separates away from the front baffle holding the speakers.

In the case of the 150 unit, upon further examination it appears the front baffle is glued to the box as there are remnants of what looks like fiberglass cord that stick out between the two pieces. Not sure if applied heat would allow them to be separated or not...

Regarding the damage to the speakers, it is severe with one missing almost the entire bottom panel (including the pole mount) and the other missing a big chunk of the top rear/side. This unit was used at my office and appears to have been dropped (possibly out of an airplane - ), maybe twice during shipping. I considered attempting to form a 'cap' by using a sheet of ABS and a heat gun, but maybe holding out to find another set of the "upgraded" PD speakers would be the best idea. It seems like there are non-working systems that appear on ebay that might be had for $100 - and since I received the unit for free that is more than reasonable...
