Hey!

I read the manual and have been playing around with the controls, but I can't seem to get both speakers on the same volume. The switch is on Stereo, the upper position, and both master volumes are on the midnight position. The speaker plugged into the left is always louder than the right. Sometimes, I can't even get sound from the right unless its turned up almost all the way.

Am I doing something wrong? Please help!

The only difference I have found from the Passport I am using from the Manual is that the Speakers Out , lower portion below left and right/send and return, only has one outlet instead of two. Does that make a difference?

It sounds like you are doing something horribly wrong, and maybe damaging.

What Passport do you have? Lets start there.

My initial wild guess is that each channel has a "Pan" knob and you have cranked each one of them most of the way to the left channel, or you have the "Balance" cranked to the left. These should all be centered (midnight, as you call it, though I see it at noon more often).

Controls on this unit are somewhat redundant and confusing. Controls for the Passport 300 and 500, as well as the new Event and Venue are greatly simplified by comparison.

It sounds like you are using a manual for a different model of Passport than you have. The 250 has the mono/stereo switch you describe, as well as the "Left" and "Right" master volume knobs, and it has two plugs for Main/Left and two for Monitor/Right.

The 150 has a similar design, except it only has one plug for Main/Left and one for Monitor/Right. I'm guessing you have a Passport 150 and you are looking at a manual for the 250.

The 150 and 250 are earlier designs than the 300, 500, Event and Venue. The engineers have had more time to think through the controls and make them less confusing.

So, to go over this again, balance between the Left and Right speakers is controlled in several places:

Each channel has a "Pan" control. Likely you want them all centered.

The master controls include "Balance", which needs to be centered, and for reasons that defy logic, there are separate volume controls for left and right. Why you need this AND a balance control is something that certainly confuses me. The only function I can imagine here is that it allows you to have yet another place to be confused when trying to control this beast.

Oh, and just in case Fender is reading this, there are several different places to see the list of available Owner's Manuals for your Passports, and of the three that I found, two give a very truncated list:

http://www.fender.com/support/articles/ ... ct-manuals

and one gives a more complete list:

http://www.fender.com/support/articles/ ... ct-manuals

So, basically, the first of those two URLs is simply wrong, though you point to it more places. That point in the site needs some work.
