Very cool stuff. I'm interested.

I'll be interested in learning more about the Expo when they put the owner's manual online, like they do with the Passport Studio.

No mention of wattage yet. Just that it works for "up to 300 people", with no mention of how far away those people are sitting or standing, or of system dimensions. It weighs 52 pounds. Great! How big is it? How much storage space does it require? How tall is that stack of speakers? Does it reach over the heads of dancers? Inquiring minds want to know.

It seems like something that you'd either have one of, and hook both left and right channels into it, and it plays in mono, or you get two of them, and have one play the left channel and one play the right, or have three of them and run both left and right through the middle one, for mono in the middle, then split out to left and right to the sides, etc. Need more watts? Get more Expos. All it takes is money.

Or you could add it as a middle speaker to an existing sound system that uses a line-level mixer and powered speakers. It would add mono sound to the middle, to fill in for those people near the stage, between the existing speakers. It could be useful for a lot of different applications. Ironically, it's not useful for anyone with an existing Passport-based sound system, since the only line-level output you could use would be 1/8"TRS. I could use adapters, but I wouldn't want those cables to be very long...

The Passport Studio is also not useful to most people with Passport-based sound systems, since these are not floor monitors, and they don't mount on speaker stands or mic stands. They are good for performers who have a table to put them on and sit next to. Mostly, they'd be a great way to turn an iPad into a nice home stereo, or for intense computer games, or to act as monitors for home studio recordings (which is what I'm sure it was designed for).

I like the Slide. It might get me back into home recording...

I'm really interested in the EXPO. I hope it's both better sounding and more powerful than the Bose units. Less expensive would be nice too.

We'll have to wait and see if Fender comes up with a compatable mixing console. I hope so.
