When I record to a thumb drive in my passport, and then plug it into my computer, the volume is very low! How do you regulate it! Lost!

Thanks

The recording feature is a bit weak in terms of controlling the volume. Here's how it works:

It adds together the sound that comes out of the various channels BEFORE the signals get to the Master Volume and Master Tone for the unit. There is no master volume for the recording. The Master Volume affects the speakers, not the recording.

If you want louder recordings, make sure the volume levels on the individual channels are high enough. It is easy to have the individual channels turned too low and compensate by turning the Master Volume up a lot. That works for sound coming out of the speakers, but not for the recordings.

So, when you set the volume level, look at the color of the dot at the top of each channel. It's black, if there's no signal, green if there is a signal, yellow, if the signal is getting a bit loud, and red if the signal is too loud.

In an ideal world, that dot should be mostly green, briefly visiting yellow during louder bursts of sound. If you set at least one channel so you see it change to yellow in brief bursts now and then while the overall balance among the channels is as you like it, then the recording should be at a good level.

The sound quality coming out of the speakers will also be a bit better if the channel volume is set up like this. If you have channel volume too low and crank the Master Volume up, the sound will tend to be a bit thinner, without the bass balancing well against the treble.
