Greetings compadres! I have a question and I'm confused by other posts, so I'll start up a new one.

I have an older Passport 250 that I use for acoustic guitar shows. I plug in the DI from my guitar and one vocal mic.

I picked up a pair of 8 ohm 1270 monitors and I want to use them in the Monitors function described on pg.11 of the Passport manual.

How should I wire this for the Passport speakers as mains and the 1270s as monitors? (Stereo is not an issue as its just my guitar and the singer's voice.) There are four speaker output plugs, (two left, two right). I think the Passport speakers are 8 ohms, but I can't confirm this. Thus, is it ok if I connect the two speakers and the two monitors individually to each output? Or is there a safer way?

(I apologize if I'm a bit power amp lame...my usual electronics are limited to "plug Strat into Twin Reverb and rock")

Here are some links to the manuals.

Many thanks!

I'm not an authority on whether or not the additional speakers you've chosen are appropriate for this amp. Assuming they are passive speakers (not "active" or "powered" speakers -- the speakers don't have their own AC power cord and on/off switch built in), then if they sound okay and the amp doesn't heat up enough to shut itself off, I guess it's an okay choice.

This PA system doesn't quite give you a real monitor mix, so far as I can tell from the manual. It just lets you have two master volumes for the same mix, one for one or two speakers in the "Main" ports and the other for one or two speakers plugged into the "Monitor" ports, assuming the switch is in the appropriate position. For your application, this is probably exactly what you want.

The confusing part is that the same ports are labeled "Left" and "Right" which is only meaningful if the switch is in the other position.
