I love my two Fender Passports. I love the sound quality, the capacity, which is appropriate for the gigs I do, and the compact storage and portability, the durability and the reliability.

It would be nice if Fender made a powered subwoofer built to go with it, instead of forcing me to find one somewhere else, because other people's subwoofers are designed primarily to be used in a different configuration. Most active subwoofers have two inputs (one for each side of stereo) that will take either 1/4" TS, TSR, or XLR cables. The crossover is in the subwoofer (an unnecessary cost, since the Passport already has one) and the subwoofer passes on higher frequencies to a pair of XLR cables intended to be used with active speakers. This is rendered useless by the crossover in the Passport, so again, it's an unnecessary expense.

Fender could make an active subwoofer for the Passport that has one 1/4"TS input, simple EQ and volume controls and no passthrough ports. It could cost less because of the unnecessary hardware that could be omitted, and it would work better because it could be matched by Fender engineers to the Passport.

I could have paid less and gotten a better, more appropriate subwoofer. Fender would probably even figure out how to make it more portable and compact. I'd love to see such a subwoofer.

I'd also love to see a "Monitor" knob somewhere on the column of each channel controls with a real Monitor Out port. Yes, many of us can enjoy the Passport without a separate monitor mix, but some of us can't, and the lack of that feature renders the Fender mixer useless to those of us with that need, and it's a fairly common need. I would argue that it's more common than a reverb (which could be connected as an external unit) or a recorder (which could be connected as an external unit). Note: A separate monitor mix cannot be handled by some kind of external unit. This is one of the things that needs to be baked into the original design.

Why give us stuff we could get elsewhere and omit something that can't be gotten elsewhere?

So far as I can tell, nobody makes what I want, though Fender comes closer than anybody else. What I really want is a Fender Passport 500 Pro without the recorder, without the reverb, but with a separate monitor mix. I'd also like a Fender Subwoofer Pro designed to go with it, and Fender Monitors designed to go with it. Make them all variations on the Passport suitcase design. Then I wouldn't have to lug badly designed gear by other manufacturers along to fill in the holes that Fender didn't fill with this unit.
