I think I may have blown the power supply on my Fender Passport 500 (Part No. 069-1001) when I inadvertently switched the power selector from 240v to 110v. I still had the power cord plugged in and the power (240v) was on. One of those "why on earth did I do that?" moments!

When I try to power up now neither the green power lamp nor the red 'protect' lamp lights up. I have changed the fuse on the unit, under the IEC power socket and also tried different IEC power cords to eliminate this as the problem.

As this unit is now at least ten years old, do you think it would be economically viable to repair it, or should I just use the speakers with something else?

Cheers, Chris

Assuming that Fender has the parts, I'd guess that it's worth repairing. You should contact Fender tech support directly, or contact a dealer who sells Fender amps who can service the unit or put you in contact with someone who can.

Well, after contacting Fender (GB & Ireland) and getting a price for a Power Supply PCB assembly of £226.42(!), I thought I'd try a local repairer.

Raj Jogi of Jayson Electronics in Leicester (http://www.jaysonelectronics.co.uk/) told me to bring it in, which I did yesterday lunchtime. I've just collected it in fully working order at the same time today.

Turned out the power supply CU had a dead short. Raj looked up the part online, replaced it and tested the PA - all for £30.00. Raj also said that the Fender power supply was one of the best he's seen and he's been in the business since the Eighties. Anyone in the East Midlands who needs an electrical or electronic product repair should contact Raj!

To say I'm happy would be an understatement!
