Hello,

I DJ at various outdoor and indoor events and my basic system is a passport 500 pro.
I have a powered subwoofer that I connect to the sub out and for certain events daisy chain a second subwoofer.
My question is regarding adding a pair of RCF 15" active powered speakers in addition to the passport's 2 existing speakers for large events.
Can I simply use the preout/power amp in? So effectively have both active powered speakers plugged directly into those two jacks? Or, will I need to use the stereo out jack with an adapter to two xlr cables. ...which i guess will end up sending a mono signal to both powered speakers.

Many Thanks in advance for your response.

You would need special cables made to use the precut/power amp in port, and I'm not confident that it wouldn't interfere with the signal going to the Passport's speakers. Those ports are designed to create a loop that would insert an external effects or stereo EQ box as if it were part of the Passport.

The port designed for the purpose you express is the Stereo Out port. That's 1/8" TRS. You'll need whatever adapters that will go from 1/8" TRS to whatever the powered speakers can take. Most can take either XLR or 1/4" TS or 1/4 TRS (balanced mono, not stereo). You only mention XLR. Is that the only input available?

If the adapters are properly selected, that should give you stereo output (two mono outputs -- one for the left stereo channel and one for the right stereo channel).

Thanks a lot contracaller. That makes sense entirely.
Have got it sorted now. Didn't want to go the trial and error method and end up breaking things!
Cheers.
