I have a new 500Pro and am wondering if it is safe to put drums such as djembe and bass guitar through the system? Will this cause damage to the speakers over time?

I also notice that there is a slight hiss on one channel (not one speaker), that is only noticeable (at this stage) when I put my ear right to the speaker. Is this something to be concerned about?

With thanks,
Mahavan

I would assume that you are micing both the drums and bass into the system? This should be fine, but as always you should keep an eye on the levels of each and make sure you are not clipping the power amp. Please use your own discresion when deciding on levels of each; because the levels are set by the user, we cannot say whether a particular input would cause damage to your system, as that would be dependent on many different factors.

In regards to the hiss on one channel - which channel is it, and where are the level controls set to (channel and master)? Is there an input (mic) plugged in on that channel? If the hiss is as low as you mentioned below, I wouldn't be concerned about it. However, if it becomes louder or is interfering with the sound quality of your unit, please contact consumer relations to see what they can do for you:

Yes, I'm micing both into the system. So there shouldn't be any problem with these inputs as long as they are not clipping the power amp? Makes sense. Thanks for the info.

Regarding the hiss: this is not coming from and input channel (like 1 or 2...) but rather the Left speaker output (or channel) and is only audible in the horn (not woofer) of the speaker plugged into this output. It does not seem to matter what volume either the master or any input channel is on, or whether there are instruments/mics plugged in or not - this hiss is always there, though only noticeable if I put my ear to the speaker plugged into the left output. The hiss does not either increase or decrease in volume when any of the systems volumes are adjusted.

Given what you've said about the hiss, i'm assuming you tried both speakers plugged into the left output and had the same result? Also, to confirm, the hiss is present even when there are no inputs plugged in at all? Is there anything plugged into the effects send return for the left channel? The 500 Pro should be very quiet, so if this is bothering you I would suggest contacting consumer relations and they should be able to help you with this.
