I have a fairly new Fender Passport 500 Pro. Recently, I have noticed that when I play the Passport without headphones the bass fades in and out sporadically. The problem is resolved when playing with headphones. I don't know what is wrong with the speakers. I never turn the volume above 50 percent. Anyone have any ideas? Thank you for any help.

My wild guess is that the wiring is faulty on the subwoofer out. If there's anything plugged into this port, the unit intentionally cuts out the bass, assuming that a powered subwooofer is handling the bass. If nothing is plugged into the port, a false reading could cut the bass if the unit had a loose wire or a bad solder joint.

Similarly, a bad connection to the low EQ pot could have a similar effect.
