Hi,

when I record through the usb pen and then download it on my mac the volume of the recording is very low. It's almost hard to hear.

On the fender it is almost fine but I tried to raise the volume using the number 8 lever but it didn't make any difference.

Thanks,

Andrea

Hi Andrea,

The recording level is determined by the individual channel levels. The master volume for example does not affect the recording level. It is important to make sure that the channel level controls are set appropriately and your recording level should be OK.

I understand, but I tried and it works fine if I play it on the passport. But if I download the file on my computer the volume is so low that it is hard to hear. I set all the volumes very loud while I was recording.

Thanks,

Andrea

I think you missed the point in the explanation. Keep in mind that the volume you hear coming out of the speakers can be changed in two places: The Master volume or the individual channel volume controls. Meanwhile, only the individual channel volumes affect what gets recorded on the FLASH drive.

So, start off with the Master volume turned almost completely off. Watch the colored dot over top of the individual channel volume. It will be black when the channel is silent, green when it has a signal, yellow when the signal is getting a little loud and red when it gets too loud.

Ignore the sound coming out of the speakers. If it distracts you, turn the Master volume all the way off. Now, turn up the individual channel you are playing into until most of the time, the colored dot is green, but it flashes yellow every now and then when you are playing or singing your loudest notes. That's the sweet spot. Don't let it go red. Turn it down if it goes red.

Now that you have all your channels set at this level, turn up the Master volume until you hear the volume level you want coming out of the speakers. If you want to change the balance between your channels, decide what is too loud and turn that channel down. Do not turn up the volume on any of the channels because that will make that channel go into the red.

Do that, and you should get recordings on the Flash drive that are plenty loud enough.
