When I plug in my mp3 player to the Passport 250, it plays the music slower than it does on my mp3 player or windows media or even YouTube. I connected to YouTube, and the music was slower than the dance moves. Any suggestions on how to make that stop. I am using this to teach Zumba classes, and MUST have the more up-tempo music. It's noticably slower. THANKS.

Is there a button on here somewhere that will set the tempo of the device plugged in?

What kind of mp3 player are you using?

Is the unit you are using a PD-250? Please clarify.

It does not say. It just says Fender onthe front. It is gray. Model Passport P/N 069-1002 Serial #035350FJ Max Power 500W I bought it on EBay & they said it was a 250.????

I know it's not the mp3 players!!!! It almost seems like the louder I play it, the slower the music will go. (I play it in a school gym for Zumba class) It is noticeable to the students too, so it's just not me. I will even start it with the Windows Media player at the same time, and not long in, they are no longer in sync. (that is where I get my mp3 music from) But what could be the problem so I can get it fixed at a shop or something. Everyone tells me it cannot be the fender, but there's no way it's my 2 mp3 players & windows media player. Please help me!!!

If the unit is gray it sounds like you have a P-250. Please contact consumer relations to see if they are able to help you:

I already did that, and they told me that in no way could it be the fender. Well, then what is the problem? GRRRRRRR :)

I teach Spinning classes 4-5 times a week. I use a variety of sound systems including fixed installations at clubs and my two Fender Passports. My MP3 players include an iPod Classic, iPod Nano, and a backup iPod Shuffle. I have never experienced nor heard of an MP3 player/CD player/computer "slowing down" a playback system. Never had a failure or technical issue with the iPod to Passport connection...

BUT! A quick search online will reveal that there has been a firmware issue with some Sandisk MP3 players that results in 1-2% slower playback. It might be worth pursuing with Sandisk to ensure that you don't have a firmware issue that pops up when you plug in a connector cable vice headphones...

Or, you could buy an iPod and be done with it.

Good luck with troubleshooting.

Thanks for the info, but I used a Sony Walkman mp3 before this one, and it did the same thing. But it didn't do it on my friends' Fender 300. Weird!!!! Thought maybe there was something with the wiring inside my Fender that would make it do it.

Wait a minute...

Is there another sound system or even self-powered "computer-type" speakers you can plug into to isolate variables further? It would be best to use the exact same connector cord...

If you have the same perception of the music slowing down when you're plugged into another sound system, you might have a MP3 player issue. On the other hand, if it only happens when plugged into the Passport, you're closer to discovering a strange and new phenomenon that should bring you great notoriety.

Looking on the bright side, if it does only happen with the Passport, you can rightfully claim the issue as your very own and name it accordingly. Your technical problem could forever be known as "Saloncuts Passport MP3 Slow Playback Syndrome."

Happy to help.
