We have a FP5 keyboard and I have been connecting it, with two cables (in stereo) to the 1/4" left (mono)/right inputs. Is this the best way to connect the Keyboard? This seems produce a weak volume for the keyboard. Would it be better to run the keyboard through a direct box? Please advise

Hi Charles,

Your FP5 should have line outputs. Is your volume slider on your keyboard all the way up? I've used an Access Virus TI with the Passport before, which has balanced outputs (+4dBu nominal) and I had plenty of volume at about 1pm on the channel control. What is your level setting on channel 7 or 8 for the keyboard? If the FP5 has true line level outputs it should be plenty of volume for the Passport. Are your volume settings on the FP5 set to max? If all the volumes are at max but the FP5's line output is still too weak you can always try Ebtech's Line Level Shifter LLS-2, which is a great little Swiss army knife for low line level output devices.

Hope this helps,
Ken
