Folks wanted to know if these units are quiet when powered up and running

Not looking to go over 75% of master volume/gain but i am looking to use in my studio so a "quiet" running system is important

I currently have an AER which is very quiet

Is there a lot of hiss on these units ?

I will be using for acoustic and vocals
Also would anyone know the Frequency range on this unit as well?

Thanks in advance

Very quiet. No hiss so far with vocal mics or aoustic guitar. A little ground hum from a fender strat through a V-amp 2 on some settings. sometimes a little sound from the fan but not much. Very happy with my new Passport 500

Thats odd
I played the PD 250 today
They had a Pro 500 but didnt want to unpack it

So i tried the Pd250
No way i can use this in my studio
At 40% volume it has more hiss and humm than my AER compact 60 at full volume so that is going to make me say NO to the new pro 500

I cant see Fender making that change in the new ones

I guess these units are ok on stage when they are 20 feet behind you and the crowd is yacking away

Not for a studio though

Hi,

The PD-250 is our old model and has been discontinued. The new Pro series is newly designed from the ground up and I would bet that the 500 Pro is one of the quietest PA systems. Will it be quiet enough for studio work I don't know, but it's a lot quieter than previous Passport models. It's a real bummer that your dealer wouldn't let you listen to it because you shouldn't base your opinion of the 500 Pro on the PD-250. They're completely different systems. I am almost certain you would change your mind! :)

Thanks,
Ken

HI Ken

Thanks for reply

Well i had the chance to sing through one today

And yes its A LOT quieter than the PD250 I tried

Impressive actually with a really nice lush reverb
I couldnt try the acoustic through it but im assuming this would not add to any noise that much

I use a really high end preamp and nice guitar so i think it will sound good
The place I am buying also has the 30 day return policy in place just in case

At 50% volume today it was very nice and quiet
Certainly a big step up from the PD units and the Pro 500 is also very compact

This could replace my current AER gear and at about 30-40% price difference
