I went to my local dealer today to take a look at the new 300 pro and 500 pro. They also still had set up on the floor an old 150 that was still in stock.

I really like the VIP (vocal input priority) function, and tested it out today. But looking at the box on the 300 pro and 500 pro, it seems to not be in the new units. Was this one of the features you decided to remove?

I'd really rather get the new pro unit. If the VIP function isn't on there, do you have a solution to rig up something to perform that function?

Thanks,
Nabil

Hi Nabil,

Most users found the VIP function rather complicated and confusing, so we have not included this function for some time now. The VIP function was a compressor that was ducking the other audio channels when audio was going into channel 1. I am afraid there really is no simple solution that one could rig up unless you would use an external mixer and a compressor.

Hope this helps, and of course I hope you still decide to go with a new Passport Pro unit as the sound quality alone is worth it! :)

Thanks,
Ken

I too have experience with an older version of the Passport, and absolutely love and need the VIP capability. I was looking to buy the Passport 500 Pro, but then saw this forum post that said the VIP had been dropped. Since that post was over a year ago, tell me please---has anything new happened? Has it been added back, or is there another alternative to get to the voice override (including a possible small mixer board with auto override)? If no VIP, I'm afraid it will be no Passport for me. :(
