Question about my setup want to make sure i'm not gonna mess-up the mixer.

Setup: Lexicon Alpha to Powered 12in Sub back to Fender 500 PA mixer. I cant find any info on this specific passport, it looks the same as the deluxe pd-250 except it's 500 watts.

Laptop=USB=> (Lexicon/Alpha)=> line-out=> RCA to XLR=> to input TRS (Rockville Rbg-12S Subwoofer)=> internal crossover=> output =>XLR to TRS Stereo 1/St-1 (Fender Passport 500 (Part No. 069-1001)

Works and sound great no clipping issues on Subwoofer, I only played a few tracks.
My concern is going into St-1 TRS from Sub ? I'm combining L/R RCA ? to XLR then through subs crossover and back to the 500 mixer. Is that going to cause some kind of gound, power, balance or line level issues ? I'm a noob about this stuff..

I tried a few configurations by using the send and return on the 500. The volume wasn't matched between the sub and mixer. Sub was way under the mixer volume no way to get them to meet without making the sub right channel and tops the left. I was also concerned that might cause an lopsided power issue?

Thanks in advance for any help!

Okay, let's start over. The Lexicon Alpha has two line level output channels expressed in two formats each: 1/4"TRS, and RCA. Right? So, ignore the RCA. That's there to be compatible with a home stereo equipment from the 1970s. That's not what we are dealing with, so use the 1/4" outputs. Get three nice 1/4"TS instrument cables. NOT SPEAKER CABLES. There's a difference. You want the cables that an electric guitarist would use between the guitar an its amp: Instrument cables. If the music store guy doesn't know what that means, go to a better music store. Get three cables.

Plug two of them between the Alpha's 1/4" line out ports and the two 1/4" inputs for channel 7 on your Passport 500 Pro. Now, you are plugging stereo out from the Alpha to stereo in on the Passport, and you'll hear stereo music coming out of your Passport speakers. This is better than what you are doing now.

Find the 1/4"TS Sub output on the Passport 500 Pro. Plug your third instrument cable between the Sub out on the Passport into the combo input port on your subwoofer. That's what the big round hole in the middle is for. That port will take XLR or 1/4". Note that the master volume level on the Passport 500 Pro ignores the Sub out entirely. The Sub out signal bypasses the master volume.

What you want to do to set up your volume is to turn your laptop and the Alpha volume levels up to maybe 70%, set the master volume of the Passport to zero percent (silent), and set your subwoofer volume at zero percent (silent), and adjust the Channel 7 volume while watching the round light at the top of Channel 7. It helps if you are not color blind.

That dot will be dark if there's no detectable signal, green if it's a detectable signal, yellow if it's getting kind of loud, and red if it's so loud that it will distort in ugly ways. Adjust the Channel 7 input volume until the loudest bursts of sound make the light change briefly from green to yellow. Never let it go red. That will give you the best signal-to-noise ratio and is a great starting point for adjusting the volume you can hear. If you can't get the signal loud enough on the Passport, try turning the Alpha up more.

Once that light tells you that you have a good, strong signal, bring up the master volume on the Passport until it sounds as loud as you want it to sound, and then bring up the volume on the subwoofer until it sounds as loud as you want the bass to sound.

Now, be happy, because this is the best setup for your gear.
