Just bought a used Rumble 150. Was in a hurry but thought I had checked everything out before buying.

Got it home and noticed that when I punch in the overdrive section I lose all sound.

Have 30 days to return it, but before I do, am I just missing something simple?

Wich button ? The "Enable " push button ?

" E " here , page 6 in the manual ?

Try to spray good quality contact cleaner , not Radio Shack brand.
Spray around the push button ,to inside the amp . Amp must be power OFF .
Push button at least 10 time to clean it .

Solder inside the amp , on printed circuit could be broken , or switch defective ?

Yep - the Enable button. Works fine till I push it - then red light comes on and sound goes away. Should have gone to store and checked it out today when had more time but wanted to pick up yesterday.
If they drop the price $100 or so to keep it as it is, can I just add overdrive to the effects loop? If so, will it sound as good?

Been looking for a used 150 and this is the only one I've found.

Amp went back. They tried contact cleaner but didn't help. Offered me an Ampeg 2 x 12 but didn't like it. They pointed me to another I liked better - can't remember the brand but they said was a bass amp company that Fender had bought out a few years ago. Model was Working Man's Fifteen. Decided to wait and see what their amp repair guy can do with the Rumble.

Rumble is back and working fine! And they gave me a free extended warranty just in case.

Much better than the Peavey I was using.

And she blew again! Played a few hours, all good, then POP. Overdrive section went out. Works with the overdrive off but Enabling the overdrive is like hitting a mute button. Back to the shop again!

Well Damn! Fender Rumbles are usually such rock solid performers. Especially the 150 combos! :?

A issue with an amplifier can happen. It blow a few hours after being repaired, it's strange.

We must ask if the repair has been done well. If the broken piece was replaced without the problem has been found.

Found a 40 watt Rumble at another store. Might just get my money back and buy it. 150 watts and a 15 inch speaker was a bit more than I needed for home use anyway. I play mostly guitar and just started bass last year. My brother uses his "little 300 watt bass amp" as his practice amp and I mainly just wanted something better than my Peavey for him to use when he visits. Using the old rule of thumb "guitar wattage times two and round it up a bit equals bass wattage needed", I'm not sure that a 40 watt Rumble will have the headroom needed to keep up with my tube amp while I play guitar. My 100 watt Peavey barely does.

I would try to get it fixed and use the extended warranty. Those are killer amps. I have a Rumble 350 and a Bassman 250. Good power and different speaker combos. The carpeted Bassman 250 was used, carpet attracts cats so it is covered when not in use. Rumble 350 was a scratch and dent sale for 225. It's a great amp too. Get yours fixed. That's a good size to have. My Bassman 100 is my fav but the Input Jack needs replaced.
