Is there any knowledge of where the Bronco line is going, if at all? Just bought the Bronco 40 to noodle around with and hoping that it will follow the direction that the Mustang line went.

I think your hopes are properly placed, BK. Fender has kept the Bronco 40 alive despite slow (but steady) sales. We'll see what the future holds. The Bronco 40 offers so much as is to the professional bass player to have such a good sounding bass amp at their finger tips where ever they go. Plug in a USB and hook up your laptop and record on the fly as your inspiration or muse strikes. For that alone the Bronco 40 is an invaluable tool for the professional bass player.

I'll admit I've had the fear where modeling amps are concerned like Mustang and this one, but I think that's from reading all of the horror stories related to the old Line 6 amps when that technology was in it's infancy and the fact I never was impressed with those related demos. Of course, Fender usually (in my experience, at least) has put out pretty decent amps, so maybe this could be something to look into at least for the effects possibilities. I do use effects with both bass and guitar, but that's usually stomp boxes. As long as these are simple to operate (I'm a cranky, stick in the mud, hating to screw with anything extensively, lazy bastard when it comes to music gear :P ) and sounds good, then why not?

That would also be pretty cool if they extended the models beyond 40 watts, so you could use it for a live situation like you can with the Mustang guitar variant. Maybe a 500 watt stack like the Rumble and associated other combos. That kind of thing. Of course, that all depends on the popularity of the amp to begin with, since that would involve financial investment.

It's hard to tell what Fender might do. They could design and produce an upgraded Bronco pedal like the Mustang. I've got a ZOOM B3 digital multi-effects pedal that has some truly great amp modeling and cabinet simulations, not to mention something like 150 bass effects. It also has a USB port for direct digital recording and also internet access to create and share patches much like Fender Fuse. $200, but for a mere additional $50 I could have gotten a Bronco 40 which is a rocking personal practice amp.

You know what's funny about that? You mention amps with USB and Internet access and I remember having some old amps that would sometimes pick up Spanish-speaking stations on AM radio when I was in Florida. :P That was an oddity, to say the least.
