Hi all,
I bought a Fender Bassman Tv 15 about 5 years ago. Without being patronizing to Fender I have to say it produces the best tone I have ever heard. It developed a fault a few months back where the output level drops gradually during use and the tone sounds distorted. I've had it in for repair but the fault never showed up. I had the preamp tube replaced but this didn't resolve the issue. The suggested fix is to first replace the preamp and if that doesn't fix the fault then replace the power amp. This is a costly exercise and not really practical as I can't risk the amp dying during a gig. I've switched to a TC Electronics BH 800 and Aguilar SL112's but the sound isn't a patch on the Bassman and would dearly like to have it fixed up without spending a fortune. Anyone else come across this problem. Is it possible to buy the circuit boards direct from Fender? Based in Dublin, Ireland.
Thanks in advance,
Chris.

Thanks for the replies. Yes - the link corresponds to my amp. The manual came with circuit diagrams so I'm covered. I was hoping someone else experienced the same problem and could recommend a fix.

Regards,
Chris.

1- These amps are new
2- I'm not sure they are very popular , ( new and so many amps)
3 -You need somebody with this problem AND reading your post here.
Good luck ,
4- Plug the amp until the problem stay there or amp blow and send it to repair second time . It will be easier for the tech
Try Fender consumer relation , ask what to do

Newer amps use lead free solder. While being enviromentally friendly, it doesn't bond as reliably as the old stuff.
You used to be able to look at solder and see the cracks. The new stuff is mechanically stronger so it seldom cracks, so you can't detect bad joints visually. The drill is to resolder the preamp entirely. If that doesn't work.... Clean and exercise all connectors and jacks.

The power amp and power supply are integrated in the ICE module. These are not servicable by anyone. Replacement is the only option and, sorry, its not cheap. But in my experience, they seldom have intermittent failures. I would focus on connectors and the preamp.
