Hi everyone, ran across a fender amp head and I didn't recognize the model number. I may be remembering wrong, but I'm fairly sure it was a BK-100B. Does anyone know much about these. Based on the model number, I'd assume it's a 100 watt head, which seems kind of light. Are these decent heads? Or should I stay away from this?

It might be a Fender Sidekick. You'd be money ahead to simply buy a Fender Rumble. If you buy used, be sure to get a second generation from 2010-2013 or the current V3 models.

I've actually seen one of those in a used gear shop years ago. It's pretty much a 100 watt solid state head, typical Fender sound. I think it might be from the 80's, but not sure. It might be obsolete for your purposes, unless it's dirt cheap and you can get by with 100 watts. For me, it would make a cool home practice amp if I had the extra cash to spend and wanted something odd ball like that, which sometimes I do, but I already have two gig amps.

Hi PaulLF, it looked a bit older, but not that old. I believe you're correct about the output. I'm sure it's not terrible, but it's not really an upgrade for me, and, while not a necessity, I do like an amp with a headphone jack for quiet practice at home.

well in that case just pick up a Rumble 40 for $200. They get rave reviews.

Or you could go bigger with the rest of the line since they have headphone jacks, too. I use to utilize the headphone jack quite a bit on my Rumble 350 combo, especially for the fact it mutes the speakers, which was sometimes handy for recording late night.

Do you like your Rumble 350? I've never had a combo unit, always a amp head and speaker cabinet combo in the past, thought I'll admit having a combo seems like it'd be easy to lug around. I'd like something that I can use for shows, practice and playing at home. I thought about picking up something in the Ampeg Portaflex family, but they seem hit and miss as far as reliability goes.

Yeah, the Rumble 350 is a pretty decent amp. They discontinued it now for the new 500 model, so the only place you find them in is the used market. Linnin and I think a few others have the head version of it and they seem to be happy with that as well. They say it's rated conservatively at 350 watts, but it's actually a little over 400. It has some power to it, either way.

I'm not using it as my main amp any longer because I have an Orange Terror Bass 1000 with an 18" speaker cab rig, but it's not because I don't like the amp. It was because I got one hell of a deal on that head I could not pass up, plus I wanted to use a stack again and a different speaker configuration besides 10"s.

I've been thinking about combining it with my 1982 Fender Super Champ to use as some nasty twang machine for my Schecter Ultra VI. I've played the Ultra VI through the Super Champ already and it sounds pretty good, but I wanted to use the Rumble to take care of some of the low end from it. The Super Champ is kind of small for that even though it's a pretty loud guitar amp. The speaker can handle it since it's a 150 watt EV Force 10, but it kind of vibrates the crap out of the enclosure itself at louder volumes.
